Hall of Fame in the background.

I get a feeling certain somebodies in this place will criticize this hugging as well...

Another MS-1000 for Djokovic, such an impressive record. Perhaps it's just me, but there's something about Djokovic this week that seems to be off, attitude wise. He didn't look all that happy when he won, and seemed distracted/frustrated most of the week. I thought he looked the same as he did at Wimbledon, mentally speaking?

ATP is just such a joke rn, its not even funny. This has to be one of the most uneventful bigger tournments. No Rafa and Rog (even if they are crap) is just such a huge blow to any tournament.
Its not even about beating Djoko. Its about playing quality tennis and sustaining it regardless of the result. Literally no one out of Djok can do that atm.
And its not like Djoko had to do sth special today. Sleepwalked through the whole tournament

It was always clear that the big-4 era is an exception in tennis history and that the quality will drop after that era. But for the next years, we still have two very good players in Djokovic and Murray.

After they retire, players like Nishikori and Raonic will be the best we have on the tour. You should get used to that sooner than later. So instead of complaining, you should be thankful to what the big 4 gave to us & gave to this sport and in parts are still giving to us.

He's starting to realize how boring and meaningless the titles really are.

Because there was absolutely nothing at stake about this tournament.

30th Masters title?

Yes indeed. No matter how much various critics of the importance of Masters titles tend to dismiss their significance for tennis legacy, 30 Masters titles just trips off the tongue in a rather awesome way and he's far from finished!

Wonder how many he will finish up with by the time he's done?

Dude, he is just better than everyone else. If he's focused and wants it, then he's hard to beat. This Wimbledon, he lost early and it was very competitive.
Nothing on Djokovic mate. Just that others are just so inconsistent that it makes for poor competition and hence boring tennis. And it really is getting a lot worse now

I AM thankful to them. Thats why I dont like the state of men's tennis rn.
And come on! I cant be the only one unhappy with the utter lack of competition in the men's game

Maybe not at this particular tournament this week but Murray has been known to give him a battle on occasion (eg. in the final last year) and has not exactly been bumming around this season, has he?

Next 3-5 years will be between Murray and Djokovic. Murray could go up to 10 majors and Djokovic up to 20. Murray is one the best players ever who was unfortunate to be born at the same time as Djokovic; in any other era he would have 6-10 majors by now.

Well he's the only silver lining in today's game. Just goes to show what utter jokes tournaments could turn out to be if Murray is not there.
That being said, your man needs to step up against Djoko. He fades out way too regularly. RG final summed up their rivalry for the last 2+ years

That's what I hope but to hear some people talk, it's just about Djokovic and no-one else. They seem to forget or are curiously indifferent to the fact that, although Djokovic is undoubtedly the dominant player, he is not the only one who has been winning Slams and Masters titles this year, is he?

Again Novak cannot win without a bunch of people typing how everything is so bad and how weak etc etc. It is pretty shocking as soon as he wins something.
How is it shocking? People have been doing this for quite some time now :p
Plus, we cant really be blamed for complaining about it, can we? Look at mens tennis rn

He can beat him in Masters finals (eg. Canada last year, Rome this year) but I agree that he needs to get back into winning ways against him in Slam finals too.

I'm just pointing out the trend. As soon as he wins, bang everyone starts typing you know what. When he loses, it is a different story.

He's losing wayyy too frequently in between these few wins he gets over Djoko. Granted Nole is just a better player than Murray but Murray needs to atleast to play his best against Djokovic regardless of the result (remember Ferrer?) He just fades out which is so frustrating since he is the only one who can actually hang with Djokovic for extended periods of time, and he doesnt do it

I predict that Djokovic-Murray will become one of the greatest rivalries in tennis ever. They are very close in terms of their games and I expect them to split many titles in next 5 years.

50 maybe

New big 2 to rival fedal 05-08!!

Be fair, Murray often does play his best against Djokovic or he wouldn't be the only player apart from Federer and Nadal to have registered double digit victories over him and beaten him in Slams and Masters finals. However, like I say, he does need to do it more often. I agree with you completely there.

BTW, not sure what I'm supposed to remember about Ferrer. Can't recall the last time Daveed got the better of Novak!

Congrats to Djokovic blnt Nishikori, tack another 600 ATP points to Nishikori and another 1000 ATP to Djokovic , net 400 increase. The gap between Djokovic and Murray has increased.

Congrats to Novak Djokovic on his 30th ATP Master 1000 title

Cheers
3Fees :)

Exactly. Its not about Nole. Its about Federer and Nadal being injured, its about Wawrinka playing like crap, and its about the generations who should peaking now is miles behind. Raonic was lucky to reach the Wimby final because Nadal and Djoke was out, and lucky for him Fed got injured during the SF. He was chanceless vs Murray. Nishi is even worse than Raonic and these are the two best players of the post 88 generations?

He's starting to realize how boring and meaningless the titles really are.
As "meaningless" as these tournament can be, they are still the 2nd highest prize after a slam. Perhaps Novak is not as motivated because the only players who can really challenge him weren't playing the event? Or is it the "been there done that" feeling that's starting to kick in after having won the CYGS with the FO this year?

Nishikori just did not have his mind in the second set! It was a repeat of the Nishikori, Wawrinka match only Nishikori was like Wawrinka in the finals. Just don't understand this! Kei should of learn to go all out on the second set from the semi-finals and not be like Wawrinka! LOL!

Well, at least it was better than the SF matches right? Thank God Nishi started to make something happen midway during that 2nd set, to keep it kind of interesting.

Novak served much better than his previous matches, and a low error count was crucial for Nishi, but too many cheap points there.

I'm so sick of it that Djokovic some people ****ing up so bad against Djokovic that he knows he doesn't even need to focus for certain matches.

Mostly talking about you Berdbitch

Great achievement by Novak. The result was so predictable but it's another milestone in his illustrious career. He's been well rested and fresh, so I think he can do some major damage all the way leading into USO. If he's too tired, he may get beaten at the USO itself, though.

With this win, Djoko ties Fed for most tier 1 titles won: 47
Note that it took only 9 seasons for Novak to reach that number (2007,2008,2009,2011,2012,2013,2014,2015,2016) whereas it took Fed 13 (2002,03,04,05,06,07,08,09,10,11,12,14,15)
Fed reached his 47th (Cincy 2015) at 34 years old, Djoko at only 29 (Toronto 2016)
Fed is a slow achiever whereas Djoko is pure brilliance :D

Comparison by surface:
Fed: 27 on outdoor hard, 7 on grass, 7 on clay, 6 on indoor hard (+ 33 finals including OL)
Djoko: 26 outdoor hard, 9 indoor hard, 9 clay, 3 grass (+ 21 finals)
Wow Fed lost a lot more finals  (just joking! Note that Djoko has more tier 1 titles on hard (35) than Fed (33))

Comparison by event:
AO: Fed 4, Djoko 6
IW: Fed 4, Djoko 5
Miami: Fed 2, Djoko 6
MC: Fed 0, Djoko 2
Rome: Fed 0, Djoko 4
3rd clay: Fed 6, Djoko 2
RG: Fed 1, Djoko 1
W: Fed 7, Djoko 3
Canada: Fed 2, Djoko 4 (Fed 2 Toronto, Djoko 2 Montreal and 2 Toronto)
Cincy: Fed 7, Djoko 0
USO: Fed 5, Djoko 2
1st fall: Fed 2, Djoko 3
Paris: Fed 1, Djoko 4
WTF: Fed 6, Djoko 5

So Djoko is leading in 8 out of 14 events, Fed is leading in only 5. And Djoko is 6 years younger than Fed!!!
Fed is overrated ;) :p

Who gives one single flying **** about Masters count when Djoker is 5 slams behind. Seriously. Especially since the emphasis on Masters 1000s are such a recent thing. Weak era debate only really matters in GOAT discussion if Djokovic were to actually come close.

lol. Whats funny is that he's broken your spirit so much that your posts are actually suffering from what you describe: a hopeless resignation that you're just along for the ride.

Boy am I going to be shaking like a ret@rd during the Olympics...

I was thinking about it a bit yesterday. I LOVE the Olympics. I know many on TTW don't care for them. But what you wanna bet if Andy SOMEHOW manages to upset Djoker in a gold medal match SUDDENLY the masses of FEDAL fans will come flocking out of the woodwork to triumph about what a huge freaking deal losing olympic gold is and how Andy's 2x gold ruins Djoker's resume. Olympics will go from this "no one cares lol" tourney to "a incalculable disgrace" if Novak doesn't win.
