So, Cilic is on a great run, he has recently won his first ATP title and is playing the game of his life.

On the other hand, it's Novak's favorite surface, his favorite tournament and he seems to be in a decent form. He looks fresh and focused.

Djokovic is a clear favorite, but is there any way Marin can put an major upset? He definitely has some chances, if he opens the match well.

The Cilic forehand has its curlicues and inconsistencies. He just can't rely on it when the going gets tough. And it will get tough. I expect Nole to take him out in three.

I only saw half of his last set with Ginepri. Nice guy, some great shot-making and fighting spirit. But I'd refrain from voting for an upset yet. I think Djoko's still tough for him to crack. Maybe later next season.:)

If he serves well (60 percnet is good for his standards ATM) and has that FH under control, I'd give him a chance. Generally, he fares better against hard hitters than grinders and I don't expect Djokovic to resort to the latter as strategy to frustrate him :) Mixing up some net approaches would be a good idea for Marin too. Not a big chance, but if he can play with fewer errors than is common for him at this point, he has the weapons to do it.

Cilic is way too tired at this point. Dumb to play a tournament after losing in the Olympics. He already had enough match play. Tough physical matches in his first two rounds here. Djokovic in 3.

Marin and his fans do not make tiredness excuses, if he loses, it'll be because he's not playing well enough just yet :wink:

It will be an interesting match indeed. Either of these guys is dangerous, I just think that Djoker has the consistency factor (not errors wise, but which game he brings on which daywise)

Djokovic looks like he's got the train back on the tracks. Plus he always seems to do well against the Serbs/Croats. The Djoker in 3.

Joker is Serbian. I think you meant Bosnians and Croatians.

But why are you suggesting that...? Sounds kinda politically incorrect.

I don't know of any Bosnian player he's ever played. As for Croats and Serbs, it's a very curious statement given that he's 1:1 with Ljubicic and 2:1 I think with Ancic, suffering a loss at Wimbledon not so long ago. I also remember him losing to Troicki, his compatriot, and I think another Serbian player, not sure if its Tipsy or not.

He beat Ljubicic and Tipsarevic earlier this yr, that's why i made the statement. Nothing political. I had forgotten about the Troicki match and the other matches occured before he reached his current level, save for the Troicki match. My bad.

I think Djokovic in 3. I saw Cilic play Fed at Wimbledon - he was good but not up to the top three standard

I like Cilic, he's a pretty talented kid and he's finally living up to his expectations. However, I like Djokovic better and I think Novak's got this one in three, maybe 4 if he's not paying attention/underestimates Marin! Should be entertaining nonetheless! :D

As for the match, these guys are killing the ball. Green Lantern is moving well, and hitting some awesome shots.

Cilic is hitting the FH so hard and erratic, he may hit one out of the stadium soon.

wow never have seen cilic play, but now i see what all the hype about him was about.
insanely solid defense, he's like a wall. also like his attitude, amazingly calm.

At 19 years of age, please tell me that Cilic isn’t still growing because they just showed him with tapes on both knees. Granted the way he moves at 6' 6", leaves one to wonder, sliding on hard court, maybe it's just the wear and tear of the matches played.

Yes. Nadal I belive uses a "rubber band" thingy. and those things really do work.

I had knee surgery a few years back (broke my patella in half, and the patella tendon split the long way>> like split ends on hair), and I have used these tapes, rubber bands. They really do hold your knee cap up, and give support. Feels more stable.

It's kineisio [sp?] tape. Everyone's using it these days. Did you see the Olympics? Also, Nic Keifer had his entire back taped up a few weeks ago in Cincy or some other dreadful ******* tournament.

No I believe this is what is happening. Novak played far worse in 2nd set but so did Cilic. I think he should have taken this at least to a tiebreak for example but he lost a service game at 5-5, with a double fault and easy mistake for example. But match is on, we'll see if I was correct.
