Djokovic as popular as ever

Just anecdotally I see more than a few people wearing Rafa merch at the USO crowd today. Seen at least a handful of the 'bull' logo hats.

But again, that is dwarfed by the number of people you see wearing that iconic RF hat, which is kind of ridiculous.

Like, would you wear a Kobe Bryant jersey to a Timberwolves-Hornets game? Would you wear a Tom Brady jersey to a Seahawks-49ers game?

I don't get it. Tennis fans are weird. But to each their own.

CoolCoolCool: Stop taking everything so seriously!
Also CoolCoolCool: Ok, now can you do it unironically?

Make up your mind, my g
I mean you're the one who doesn't seem to appreciate jokes and was looking for a serious debate. You got it and now you're backtracking because you feel trapped.

That's where you're wrong. I was never going to engage in a "serious debate" with somebody who responds "lol no" to my comment. You think "Lmao you're just a person on the internet. Go back to school" is my expressing interest in "serious debate" here?! Lmao that's so dire.

Why would I "seriously debate" somebody whose most coherent point was "lol no?"

You call that weird, but I think it's healthier. At least, it means they're more open-minded and not overly patriotic.

what is open-minded about wearing merchandise of a player who isn't even involved in the tournament?

I don't want to overthink it, just tennis fans wearing tennis merch at a tennis event, but it is a little weird when you consider it.

It's not the same as raising giant cardboards with Rafa's name or photo on it, or yelling his name during matches. Shirts and hats are just that, it means they like the player and it's not active support during a match/tournament he's not involved in.

I totally get it, it’s just kind of funny to see, and a bit non-sensical when you really put it in context.

Imagine if Djokovic actually did care to have PR ,instead of choosing to be true to himself &his values. Not for everyone liking ,but that’s ok .Doing just fine.
To some people, some things in life are just to precious. Some can't get the gist of these words and will resort to value merchandisising goods more .His legacy in tennis is already bigger than that

actually, the insecurity of his "fans" here is palpable. His "values" are nothing to be fawned over. He's the tennis goat, but he's a complete fool at Science to be honest. Thus he's the darling of the alt right for being anti-vax, which promotes him to ALI status in their eyes of being forever persecuted for standing by his crazy beliefs. Combine that with his racket smashing on court and overall frustration when he loses (which is not often) cement him as tennis goat indeed numerically but never to achieve the adoration and loyalty of fedal which his base and probably himself so desperately want.

Djokovic is more popular in person than people make it seem though. Defo a huge presence at the US Open this year in real life.

TTW Twitter and Reddit isn't reality. Don't believe these weirdos with their agendas online.
Its a bunch of Russian sponsored accounts seeding hate in western world
Which city are you in, St Petersburg perhaps?
