Novak Djokovic, take a bow! Following his career has been amazing, and to see him lift his 3rd Wimbledon Crown was absolutely fantastic today. This is also his 9th Slam Title and elevates him to 8th on the All Time Slam List - he is the sole occupant of that spot. By winning today, he also enjoys his first Multi-Slam Season since that year that is 2011 - and I'm sure many of my fellow fans will also be delighted with this!

Regarding the match, it was another close one which started off very well. The key was that Novak stayed so solid off the ground at the baseline, he wasn't afraid to attack when he needed to and he returned serve exceptionally well. Absolutely his best match at Wimbledon this year, and what a great time to produce it!
Following the French Open final, I was not sure that he would win this title, but like a true champion he kept up the positive energy and just did it.

Here are some other (more minor) statistics and potential statistics heading into the US Open:

1. Djokovic has won at least 3 titles at 2 Slam venues now (AO and Wimbledon)
2. Djokovic now has a 3-0 record against Fedal in Wimbledon Finals (quite amazing really)
3. Djokovic has won 3 out of the last 5 Slams played (#Majoring in Majors)
4. Djokovic becomes the first man to defend his Wimbledon Title since Federer in 2007!
5. Djokovic's points tally stands at 13,845 as of tomorrow, a 4,180 point lead over no. 2 Federer

6. IF Djokovic wins the US Open, he will have won at least 2 Titles at 3 Slam venues (AO, Wimbledon, US Open)
7. IF Djokovic wins the US Open, he will be one of only two players to have had multiple 3-Slam Seasons (2011 so far), behind Federer (2004, 2006, 2007)

Roger Federer has had another great tournament, great effort to reach the final this year and really great fight in the first 3 sets! It's admirable he's still competing and able to deliver great performances (like the one on Friday). I think a higher first serve percentage was required today (around 75-76%) to really make inroads, but no worries. I'm sure the trolls/pundits will be out in full force ready to continue writing him off, but you really never can count him out of anything if he still has the desire and motivation! A lot of people laughed at him last year when he said he looked forward to "coming back next year (for the Wimbledon final)", but yet here he was! Will always be one of my favourites.

If anyone has further thoughts on the final, feel free to share.

No need to segregate!

I think most tennis fans, even those who are fans of Federer or those who aren't fans of either, should be able to appreciate Djokovic winning Wimbledon after the disappointing rout in Paris. I'm sure leagues of fans are saddened by Federer's second runner-up finish in a row, but the normal people don't translate this into enmity towards Djokovic.

Good for Djokovic. I wouldn't say it was one of the better matches of the year or anything of that sort - in fact this was one of the Wimbledon's with the least memorable moments, but all the same. We were spoiled with three really good Wimbledons back to back - 2011, 2012, 2013. This final was a tad better than 2014, but not by much. Onto New York! The best tournament on tour!

I am just glad a lot of BS will be no more.

Novak had a fluke 2011 year, he can't win more than one slam per season - Well, he just won two this year to have his second multi slam season.
Novak can't defend a non-AO slam - He just became the first man since Federer in 2007 to defend the Wimbledon title
Novak majors in minors - Novak has now won 3 of the last 5 slams
Novak has a poor record in slam finals - He has now won more slams that Agassi, Lendl, Wilander, McEnroe, Becker, Edberg, Connors
Novak has a very AO heavy resume - Well he now has three Wimbledon titles to show he is not a single slam specialist

There are a few others, but these a few gems that are done and dusted.

I agree with this very much, you can now say that Djokovic has "dominated" two slams. He's won 3 of the last 5 Wimbledon's, making a final and semi-final the other time, and losing both times to the eventual winner. He also has a 32-2 record in that time period, pretty damn good if you ask me!!

Not a member of the brethren, but wanted to offer my congrats to Djokovic's fans! I was a little concerned to learn he was eating the rye grass, but hopefully the gluten will pass out of his system before hard court season commences. I'm sure he will continue to give you all a lot to cheer about this summer :)
