Djokovic Brothers playing Umag Doubles

Hey everyone! Looks like Novak Djokovic and Marko Djokovic are playing the 2009 ATP Studena Croatia Open Umag Doubles tournament.

Neither of them is playing the singles tournament, which is strange (in Novak's case, especially), but it should be interesting to see how well they do anyways.

Their first round match is against Fognini/Starace.

Anyone with an idea of why Novak Djokovic decided to play a 250 doubles tournament with his little brother? How well do you think he'll do?

His little brother is not very good, so he needs Novak to get a win. I think hes only won like 1 doubles match on the main tour and zero singles at any level on the itf tour.

He gets a lot of wildcards because of his last name though

Yes, only 1 doubles win, and I think it was against some nobodies.

Young Djokovic beat Zimonjic/Nestor with Madjarovski at Serbian Open 2009.

Although, the fact that tournament was organized by his father probably had something to do with it.
And the fact that Nestor/Zimonjic are both Serbs...I wonder if they got a bonus for losing the match?

So they lost. First round?

That was a waste of time. Djokovic was probably in the area recording rap songs with Karlovic anyways.

Dissapointing.

If Nole keeps babysitting Marko like this, his own ranking will slip further. He should be in the States getting into the hardcourt season, not playing doubles at Umag.

I thought little brother was supposed to have more potential than Novak and end up being a better player...
Thats the youngest, there is three in the family. He is like around 13 years old and like you said is supposed to end up being the best in the djokovic family.
