Djokovic comments on crowds not supporting him

Your argument essentially boils down to: "If you don't like my favorite player, you aren't a real fan of tennis". Maybe some people just don't like Djokovic because they don't find his game very fun to watch. Is that so bad?
I have more than 1 favorite player for different reasons. I used to hate Djokovic, like say 09 when he retired against Roddick and was overall just kind soft. I probably have old posts in this forum from around then basically trashing Djokovic.
He's won me over.

I love Nadal for certain reasons, and I think 12 French Opens is by far the greatest accomplishment ever in tennis, and nothing is really close.

I like Sampras and Agassi, because I grew up watching them. I like Federer, because he's basically the last great player we will see of that mold.

It's not just, "if you don't like my favorite player, then X,Y or Z"

Novak's game is ridiculous, if you understand what he's doing. He's not just counterpunching and getting balls back, he's slowly picking you apart. He's like Floyd Mayweather, but way more offensive. Some people don't just don't understand what he is doing to win, or as you said his game is "not very fun to watch" those are fans of 1 player, not necessarily fans of tennis, as a game. If you like tennis as a game, his game is pretty textbook and difficult to not like, his game is almost like Agassi and Federer combined.

Many of those fans are fans of many different players. It’s just that that list happens to exclude one player. You can’t just blame personal taste on not understanding what he does to win. I, for example, think I understand that part of his game very well. In fact, I respect it a lot. It’s just that I can’t find myself going out of my way to watch his matches because his style of play just doesn’t appeal to me. Again, lots of respect for the guy’s playing style and especially his off-court persona, but I wouldn’t call myself a fan.

I also wouldn’t call myself a fan of just one player, since my list of favorite players includes Federer, Nadal, Thiem, Wawrinka, and others. I think you have to realize that this generalization doesn’t actually apply to all people who aren’t fans of Djokovic (or, dare I say, even a majority). Personal taste is what it is: personal taste.

The fake desperation that emanates from his desire to be loved by the crowd and his handling of court volunteers is very disappointing.
Stop trying to make this narrative happen. Its never gonna happen outside TTW Fed fans.

You know I have been thinking about this a lot since Kobe's death but I think it's quite ironic he and Novak were friends. They are very similar to each other in their own sports, both great offense and defense players, probably overshadowed by two other greats, but have insane focus and ability to pull out crazy shots under pressure when their back was against the wall or the match/game was on the line. Both really complete and can pull out all the stops, but not as flashy as the two other GOATS.

What? Do you actually watch his matches, or just regurgitate the same rose tinted juice as this entire thread?

The guy has a huge problem with behaviour and it is quite disgraceful. Glad you seem to let it slide and maybe you were raised with different values and virtues on how to treat people (especially volunteer ball kids).

That's not to say he doesn't have many great qualities as a tennis player and a human being, but politeness and respect to those that owe you nothing is something I and most others should value. He doesn't always possess that.

I never said that HE deserved anything. In fact if you’ve seen my posts I’ve repeated critized Djoker’s inability to control his temper. I’ve said it tons of times.

In regards to Fed I would note that he had a meltdown on par with anything Djoker has ever done just 2 matches ago.

Djokovic's lack of crowd support reminds me of McEnroe having the same problem, and complaining that, for reasons not clear, Connors always got lots of crowd support even though his actions were at least as bad as Mac or anyone.
