Djokovic/Federer Fans - If you could, would you trade any of their Grand Slam wins

As we all know, the Federer-Djokovic rivalry is perhaps the most balanced rivalry in tennis history. They are currently 6-6 in Grand Slam matches.

If you could, would you trade any of their wins against each other and take a loss.

2007 Australian Open 4th Round - Federer def Djokovic, goes onto win title
2007 US Open Final - Federer def Djokovic, wins title
2008 Australian Open semifinal - Djokovic def Federer, goes onto win title
2008 US Open semifinal - Federer def Djokovic, goes onto win title
2009 US Open semifinal - Federer def Djokovic, goes onto win title
2010 US Open semifinal - Djokovic def Federer, goes onto lose final
2011 Australian Open semifinal - Djokovic def Federer, goes onto win title
2011 French Open semifinal - Federer def Djokovic, goes onto lose final
2011 US Open semifinal - Djokovic def Federer, goes onto win title
2012 French Open semifinal - Djokovic def Federer, goes onto lose final
2012 Wimbledon semifinal - Federer def Djokovic, goes onto win title
2014 Wimbledon final - Djokovic def Federer, wins title

As a Federer fanatic, I really don't think there any matches I would trade if I could.

Thoughts?

I would trade 2012 RG SF win with 2011 RG SF loss in a second. But that is too obvious.

If you want more fair trade than 2010 USO SF win with 2011 RG SF loss. Although one can argue it is this win that sparked 2011 run, but this is assuming everything else stays the same.

And there went the moment that Djokovic would have become the almighty GOAT joining Laver by conquering the 'Grand Slam':wink::wink:

And Nadal wouldn't have 10 successive years of winning a Slam either, as so many of his fans like to bring up.

Your table is wrong i.e. 2009 USO was won by Delpo.

Assuming I choose the swap on Fed behalf regardless of Djoko's opinion, then I would like to swap Fed 2011 win in FO SF for win in 2011 AO SF.

I think Novak could have won the 2011 FO, especially in view of Fed showing in the final that Nadal was not at his peak.
Fed could have definitely defeated Murray in AUO that Year.

So Novak keeps his win in different tourney and one he is still missing 3 years later, Fed gains a win.

Loser is Nadal with at least 2 fever GS in his resume.

What is not to like it for Fed fans in this swap?

The obvious answer is that its very possible Murray could have beaten Fed that year in the final to win the title and now Djoko has wins over Fed at all slams, but Fed does not have the same over Djoko. Also I would not trade a guaranteed slam win for a potential one as a Nole fan even if it was very likely. Its still Nadal at RG we are talking about.

I think the fairest swap that both camps would probably be happy with is FO 2011 for USO 2010.

Djoko gets his best shot at Nadal for an RG title and Federer gets his match with Nadal at USO, the one major he has never played him on. If both lose, its no different than without the swap.

The only risk from the Djoker camp is he might not go into Djoker 2.0 without that win at USO, but I think the diet change, Davis Cup wins had more to do with it.

One has to wonder about the reliability of the OP's data. Handing Fed the 2009 USO title as he's done here is going beyond "fanatic" status.

Why do you care what achievements Nadal has? I know you wish you could pull each one of his titles away like you're deconstructing a Jenga tower  alas... :(

As a Nadal fan, I'd love it if Fed and Djoko switched places in the FO 2011 Finals. This way, Nadal beats him and I know if he breaks that streak, he likely beats him once more (most likely at Wimbledon) that year. As we all know, Nadal at the French is as close to unbeatable on a specific surface or a venue as it comes. You don't beat the King of Clay at French Open and live to tell everyone the story. I don't even know where Soderling is anymore.

The mental block he would have conquered had he met him at the French Open. I wish Nadal had the shot. Ah well, 14 slams is pretty damn good

But of course they don't believe that, bc Novak beat him in Rome and Madrid

It's conveniently forgotten that Djokovic had beaten Federer 2 or 3 times straight at that point also. But their argument is literally that Federer can break a losing streak to Novak (at the French open no less). But Rafa (who still has only lost there once and has beaten Novak 3 more times there since) wouldn't have been capable of doing the same on his favorite court  staggering stuff.

ask any djokovic fan and he would be happy to trade that FO 2011 in a heartbeat.

That was one day Fed decided to mess up with history! I'll never forgive him for that.

You can say that again !

Any sane Fed fan would also trade the FO 2011 semi for the Wimbledon 2014 final.

There was no way Djoko 2.0 was losing that FO final to a very scared Nadal.
So Djoko would have a career slam + possibly a CYGS and Fed would have slam no. 18.

But at the same time Fed wouldn't have the Nole slam and being the only player to have it

I am not too sure.

The Fed fan in me would not like Fed's 3 seasons making all 4 finals being eclipsed by Novak's grand slam, all for the sake of a repeat wimbledon.

Ok, may be not unless Nadal can get the 18th.
