Here is Novak Djokovic's new team:

Coach: Pepe

Fitness Coach: Pepe

Physiotherapist: Pepe

Nutritionist: Pepe

Sport psychologist: Pepe

Spiritual Guru: Pepe

Hitting Partner: Suresh

I'm not sure how I feel about that new team...

Pepe would just tell Djoko that Sureshs has been sneaking off to an AYCE buffet down the road between hitouts instead of eating at Novaks crappy vegan restaurant and i think Sureshs would be sacked pretty quicksmart too.

It sure is. Maybe Djokovic has reached that desperation point. He is willing to try anything to get back on track, regardless how drastic it is.

Eh, I don't think there is anything desperate about it

Despite his words, one truly wonders if tennis and the drive to win are as important to him as it was in the past

This team plus Becker took him and his playing style to tour dominance and multiple slams

What happens that you all of a sudden clean house entirely?

Maybe he had no idea what to do and felt that he has reached his ceiling with his former team.

Its a sad day, a true great has lost his mind.
He's a fully fledged lunatic and will be lucky to get into 3rd round of slams from now on.

Good news for Rafa and Roger, I'm sure they can't believe their luck that they literally have NO RIVALS ...

Terrible for the game, at this rate Federer could be the 1st man to win a grand slam when he's 40+ ...

When Nole was in the car with Deepika on the way back from the club Pepe was there in spirit. He said to Nole "You must do what you feel is right." The rest as they say is history.
Did you ever hear the tragedy of amor y paz? I thought not. It's not a story Boris would tell you.

<proceed to tell Djovak to stick his pepe deepintopika>

Gooood...let the love and peace flow through you...

Utterly ridiculous. Just read this on the BBC site and i am laughing in shock at this. The guy has had a mental implosion and has no idea what he is doing. Firing one or two members of your team who you don't feel are helping is one thing but your entire team? A team that has helped you this whole time and is most likely the reason he was so good for so long? Insanity.

There is no return from this. He is done. He is giving his team the farewell because he knows he is done and doesn't wanna drag them down with him.

I actually think it means the opposite. Vajda has been with him forever and guided him to 12 majors. To me it shows he doesn't care anymore, and that's really been obvious ever since he won the FO last year. He's going coachless now... his unraveling continues.
At the end of the day he knows best what should be done. If he feels this will help him, then I wish him good fortune.

Idiotical decision to say the least. I guess he is done, because he is doing dumb movements like this. I am not sure which kind of role is having Jelena here, but should not be a good one. A good wife may led you to take good decisions, but a bad wife... can bury you inside a hole in the dirt.

Not very optimistic about Djokovic's future. I guess La Decima is almost in Nadal's pocket (insert @Meles comment here "unless Thiem makes a deep run in his beloved clay" :D)

Plot twist:

Pepe was an elaborate ploy by Fed!

Secretly taken picture of Federer and Murray post 2016 AO

Federer: So Andy, I get that you really wanna get to number 1 huh?
Murray: Yeah Roger, but damn, that Novak ain't leaving me air to breathe!
Federer: Hey, so I got this idea. This meditating pacifist called Pepe wants to coach Novak...
Murray: Yeah?... And?
Federer: And he has a record of making his pupils stop caring about worldly desires and reach borderline anorexia...
Murray: Roger... You aren't suggesting that?...
Federer: Yes, I'll pull some strings and make it happen. Since I ain't playing much this year anyways you can go grab that elusive #1. In exchange, next year I want at least one slam.
Murray: Rog, I don't know how I feel about this.
Federer: Don't forget how he played you in the AO!
Murray: ... You're right... You sure you can do this?...
Federer: *chuckles* Leave it to me

Murray during the trophy ceremony after his loss to Djokovic in the 2016 AO Final. Also his suspected motive for his collusion with Federer in destroying the Djokovic team from within

Well, that escalated quickly...
Vajda and co. were practically family, they'd been around him so long
He knows what he's doing, so best of luck! Hope he regains his form and drive asap

That's the thing though. I'm not sure he does. To me it sounds like he's hoping to find a solution instead of actually knowing what he's doing. In any case we'll find out eventually if this one works or not.

... Jokes aside, LMFAO that he keeps Pepe and gets rid of Vajda. Just wow.

Edit: confused, so is he gone or no? Amor y paz no more?

GOAT post. But honestly, I think Nadal being Spanish would be a better protagonist for this story :)

I don't get all this Jelena blame when she was with him as he ascended to his tennis heights

You'd think she would have imploded his team sooner than 10 years

Also, whose to say h didn't go vegan when he changed his diet 6 years ago?

Hell, Tom Brady pretty much has the same diet and no body has anything to say about how he eats

What's the deal with all this criticism of Jelena? She was there with him before he had any titles, why are there suggestions that she is somehow sabotaging him over a decade later?

This won't be popular with some people here, but I don't care tbh. The truth is that there is a certain level of misogyny/sexism on this forum. Yes, you read that right. And it's sad because most of the time this forum is great for some comic relief, and there are a lot of people here who know tennis inside and out, but every so often the "dark side" (for lack of a better phrase) of TTW rears its ugly head and this is what you get. You see it a lot now that Djokovic's career is off track. You see it in the way some people here talk about the WTA and/or Serena (just to be clear, I don't like watching women's tennis now either, but there's a difference between saying that and the way some others talk about the WTA). You saw parts of it in the Nastase/Konta controversy. And finally you see it in the way some talk about Mirka. I don't even have to expand on this one because anybody that's been here long enough (and it doesn't take long) knows what I'm talking about.

This started happening late 2015. The difference was evident.

Look, Borg had a crisis and quit at 26, still the 2nd best player in the world - turned to drugs, playboy-ism, married a nutter etc

McEnroe had issues, slipped to #2 barely, took time off and was never the same again

Wilander reached the summit then fell off the next minute.

Agassi reached the top, lost a big final and disappeared for years, turning to drugs, God knows what else

----

Nobody knows what's going on with Novak Djokovic. I miss what he brought to the Tour but understand if it's all gone screwy for him - he's hardly the first

Hope he recovers to be competitive at the top once more... Beginning to think that might not happen
