Djokovic has now tied Lendl for weeks at #1 with 270 weeks and will surpass him to have the third most number of weeks at #1. Sampras has 286 weeks and Federer has 310 weeks. So Djokovic needs 3.7 more months at #1 to equal Sampras and 9.3 months to equal Federer.

Around Wimbledon 2020 if he stays at #1 all the way to it, which looks quite hard right now, he will overtake Federer's record.

Fed only has 2 records: number of slam titles and weeks at #1. Rafa has records coming out of his ears, so I'm not exercised about breaking Fed's records.Let's start with these:

Do you have records of his from the last 14 years? Maybe a little more recent? You endlessly post stuff about what Nadal did as a teen. Maybe you need to look up these names, all of whom had superior careers to Nadal as a teen: Wilander, Becker, Borg, Chang. I'm sure you've never heard of any of these guys, but Wiki may assist you.

Chang's career wasn't superior to Nadal's as a teen.

He won a slam at a younger age, but that's about it.

They all won slams as teenagers but how many titles did they win a s a teenager?

Nadal has never been extended to 5 sets even once in 12 French Open Finals wins. Nadal never lost 2 consecutive matches on clay in his entire career.[5] Many tennis critics and top players regard him as the greatest clay-court player of all time.[6][7][8]

As of September 2019, Nadal has the all-time Open Era record for overall best career winning percentage (minimum 500 wins) at 83.1% (966-196 record), ahead of Bjorn Borg's 82.7% winning percentage.

Hmmmm, it seems that one by one, Federer's hold on the records are slowly crumbling down. Sweetness indeed
 
This is a great achievement in his career and I would say one of his greatest. To get into the top 3 of weeks at #1 in the Open Era is really no small feat. Catching Federer is going to be tough though and to be honest, catching Sampras will be too because his reign at #1 looks to be in danger at this point in time. Still passing both Lendl and Connors is an awesome milestone in his career.

The original poster's statement was that Chang had a better career as a teen. He did not say that Chang was better or had more success at 17. But better at all the teen years up until they both turned 20.

Which is of course rubbish.
 
It's a very good achievement. To be honest, equalling or surpassing 310 weeks is not assured. Rafa is in good position to capture #1 by, and at, year-end. So, if that happens, Novak will have to recapture it and be the best player on tour. There are no guarantees, healthwise or performance-wise.

Agreed. Aside from the slams record, weeks at No. 1 is the most significant tennis record.
 
Passed Lendl, Sampras next.

Sampras is almost certain but Federer's isn't very easy though achievable. Good luck to Novak! He deserves much respect for what he has done. To be able to compete against the likes of 2 of the greatest players ever and dominate grand slams the way he has done is nothing short of remarkable. Let's enjoy seeing him break this record instead of being bitter simply because you are a fanboy of another player. Tennis needs these kind of players.

Unless Rafa has a great indoor season and retakes 1, Djokovic is a shoe in to pass 310 weeks.

Did Chang really have a superior career as a teen? By my count:

Rafa: 1 RG, 6 M1000 wins (4 clay, 1 outdoor HC, 1 indoor HC), 9 ATP 250s
Chang: 1 RG, 1 M1000 win (outdoor HC), 3 ATP 250s

Unless I missed something, that's not counting Rafa was winning RG #2 as he turned 20. And every single one of the guys you've mentioned are straight out of the 70s & 80s, Rafa's not only the best teenage slam sensation in the past 30 years, he's the only one. Rafa hating smh.

This is simply not true. Monica Seles won 8 slams by 19! Please explain how Rafa is the best teen slam sensation. He's not even remotely close to Seles!

It should be obvious I was discussing male tennis players. Female tennis is a different competition, why compare? Otherwise I'll point out Monica would've won zero matches on the men's tour. Or should we discuss junior teenage slam sensations as well, as technically they count as well?
