Fed really screwed himself out of this record by virtue of his crappy 2010 spring form and not playing clay in 2018 when out of form. Gave away number 1 too easily.

Was unfortunate in 2008 too with mono interrupting his prime period.

If he had won Indian Wells last year, he could have gained a few extra months as No. 1.

Best player i’ve ever seen but quite possibly has choked his main records away.

Yeah he still has it but we’re relying on Djokovic slipping up a bit not to take this one. Not impossible.

Both seems doable. And I hope he does it.
 
If Medvedev doesn't go berserk next year I imagine Djokovic and Nadal will be switching there for a while. Wouldn't even rule out Federer adding a few weeks either.

How many weeks is it from WTF to AO?
Think about if Federer loses to Novak in WTF, and that match was the one that clinched the YN1 for Novak.

The weeks when there are no tournaments played are not counted towards weeks at Nr. 1

Please, Nadal's injury in 2009 put Federer in the world number 1 tray, therefore he gave him dozens of weeks in that place, in addition to granting him to finish the season first.
