All this nonsense about prime fed vs prime djoker but we have seen prime fed and this year we have seen the BEGINNING of prime djoker you will see his prime over the next five years remember he is only 24. This year you have seen the start but he will continue to to win slams then you can say prime Djoker. And this djoker has beaten fed four times this year already old man or not, match points down or not he has beaten him FOUR times this year.

So Borg retired almost without having reached his prime.

Wow.

Well, Djokovic is very close to his prime. I still think he can improve on things such as volleying, and the serve a little. His groundies are the best of anyone else rights now, and he can change his style of play to fit different surface and players. I don't know what you consider "prime"

Prime is subjective.....you never really know till the players shows it.

Ass far as I know Djokovic and Nadal are in their prime. If Djokovic gets significantly better than you can argue that 2011 wasn't his full primed state.

Actually OP does have a point and prime is indeed relative. If Djokovic can sustain a level for the next 3 or 4 years where he has less than 2 losses per year, then 2011 would not be considered prime. Let's wait and see. On the other hand if djokovic has significantly more losses than 2 per year in the next few years , then we can say 2011 was his peak.

Nole's fans and Nadal's fans are so difference. They say a 25 yrs old Nadal has declined drastically, but a 24 yrs old Nole hasn't reach his prime.

Then they say a 30 yrs old Roger is still in his prime.

I don't think he'll be in his prime for another 5 years. 3 years is closer to it I think, with 1 to 3 more years of playing like he did in about 2007-2010 - in other words a contender but not the main guy.

Anyone who watched tennis last year, knows Nadal's form is not at the same level. Anyone who has watched tennis the last 4 years, knows Federer is not at the same level. Federer's drop is explained by his age. Why Nadal dropped from last year is unknown...

It's because he's being beaten like never before by one man. You might deny it a thousand times, but this year the top 4 players - the only guys who will really win the big events - are doing better than last year. If they were playing better last year they'd have made more finals. Nadal seemed to be playing better last year because he won everything, if he had beaten Djokovic the 6 times they met this season I would admit Nadal was having the best single season ever because this year the big 4 are actually clashing many times, unlike last year where Nadal hardly faced a top 4 player due to them playing so badly.

We must not forget that Federer had his best year, and peaked, at 24 as well. But players don't all experience their "prime" period at the same time. Djoker is undoubtedly in his prime right now, but the real question is how long he can sustain it. It's one thing to have an incredible year like this. It's another to back it up the next year. Djoker's 2012 will be telling as to how long or how consistently he can maintain this level of play.

DUDE FORGET BORG! Michael Chang. Imagine what would have happened if he would have dedicated more time to tennis rather than taking the easy street after his only major. The possibilities are mindbottling!!!!!!!

Chang would've made Nadal's career look like Kevin Costner's filmography.

 Stupid post. If not for Djokovic, Nadal would've won everything this year just like last year. We can all see Nadal's quality as he smashes his opponents easily like Muller, Roddick and Murray. It is Djokovic who has brought out the worst in Nadal. Nadal has a mental block. He is scared of Djokovic's game.

Djokovic has a great chance at all Slams. Basically his only adversaries are Federer and Nadal and maybe an inspired Murray or Del Potro although the latter two seem to be void of any juice as they progress in the later parts of majors which shows their lacking fitness.
It's still the BIG 3 right now.

I don't care if Nadal did win everyhting this year, it still wouldn't negate that he is playing worse this year vs last year!!!

Some of you need to invest in technology! A DVR can do wonders!

The fact that you mention Muller and Roddick as some major hurdle a top player has to get passed should show you how weak your argument is! Even Murray is certainly not playing as well as we have seen from him in the past!

This is his first really good season, I don't see why he can't do better. A lot of Federer fans don't want to see that as it will 100% invalidate all their false claims.

Novak is doing all this while beating Federer and Nadal = much more impressive.

Agreed. Djokovic will dominate tennis for a long time. This is just the beginning. Wait until he improves that serve.

Murray's slam record this year is better than Roger's. If you're being honest, it's really the BIG 2.

Yes I still don't think his serve is as good as 2008 and when he plays fed it's the one area I feel fed beats him on. When they get in the rallies it's djoker all the way but when they both serve well fed edges it.

Federer beat Djokovic in a slam and had match points in another as well.

Murray has beaten no one of note and let's be honest he's had some **** easy draws to get to all those semifinals and the Aussie Open final. He is simply not in the discussion right now with the others given his performances in the big matches.

He's the second guy now to beat Federer and Nadal back to back in a Slam. Not an easy task.

He's been injured this season a lot, right? Knees, back, shoulder. It would seem hard to keep up this level of play, especially on the defense. I think he will be insanely good again for at least next year, though.

Yup, look at all the Nadal fans parading the forum about how incredible Nadal was looking, peaking just at the right time for the finals after demolishing Muller, Roddick and Murray without even breaking a sweat. Then Nadal goes into a shell against Djokovic and can't hold his serve to save his life.

He had a shoulder injury in Cincy and apparently a back injury which he said was not serious and only required rest. So a fully rested Djokovic should be back in the mix later this season.

Fed drop b/c of his age is a no brainer. But Nadal fans like to make excuse for their hero by saying he's decline this year b/c he can't beat Novak. But Novak fans insist that their hero is still improving. Both of these guys are 24/25 respectively. Doesn't make sense for one is still developing and the other has declined.

No question Nadal would have a better year than last year if not for Nole standing in his way. Last year Nadal lost to past prime Roddick and Lubicic, however Nadal this year would have killed them.

Of course a 6 years younger with 12 slams behind Fed should be more motivated/hungry for success.

Novak has worked so hard to be so well rounded, and thus he is the most complete player in a very long time. I wish he would use the net more though, and you don't see him S&V often at all. Next year he is only going to feel more confident, however IMO I think he understands that with Federer and Nadal out there he could lose all of his lives work at any time.

Federer and Nadal want blood!
