Djokovic: "I felt no fatigue. Could have played for another few hours"

Djoker:
" I didn't feel fatigue. Actually, I was very happy with the way I felt on the court. I could have gone for another few hours."

And yet the fake news headline reads "tired Djokovic".

These journalists truly are the enemies of the truth.

Straight from the man himself. So the fans can stop making excuses. Rafa beat him fair and square once again, because he is simply the better player on the surface. Novak played as well as he possibly could on clay at this stage of his career (while Rafa did not reach his best level on clay), wasn't tired and still lost.

To be read between the lines, Nole actually meant:
“Rome organizers are a bunch of bloody @$$holes, real pieces of sh1t.”
He’s too macho to let everybody know that.

It’s amazing how Djoker played the best he could possibly play but Rafa did not LOL. Impressive insight

If you know how to watch a tennis match with your eyes, the insight isn't all that impressive. Just obvious. Both played a very high level first set. Nadal's level dropped massively in the second set, while Novak' s didn't. Novak's level continued to stay consistent for most of the third set, while Rafa had to raise his again to win.

Novak played as good a match on clay as I've seen from him in since 2016 and still lost. Nadal was legitimately poor for at least a whole set. Nadal can overall play much better on clay. Djokovic was close to redlining his current clay game, and the result was still a loss against Nadal.

I have told earlier in that classy thread Djokovic is one of the most gracious one in the loss, he just celebrate wins in that fashion, I will say why not,

Doesnt matter what he said. Hes just doesnt want to say excuses and thats all. 5 hours on saturday with such hard matches will tire anyone even 20 year olds. But i like how he played, it bring me hope that maybe he will perform at RG. As Djokovic fan i was lost all hope about Djokovic on clay, but now i believe he can win RG, atleast have chance.

Djokovic netting that forehand on BP at 2-2 3rd set was a perfect example of the second kind of fatigue: mental fatigue. Djokovic’s legs and arms got him to the right spot but he just missed by centimeters, let Nadal off. I think that was less a reflection of the 5 sets yesterday and more a representation of what’s needed to stay with Nadal on clay for 3 sets. He’s the only player to be able to do it consistently but the mental block of hitting everything perfectly for 3+ hours is unbelievably difficult - after having done it for 5 the day before the mental fatigue did seem to set in 3rd set.

The level of tennis displayed in most of the 3rd set was genuinely a level no other players could reach on clay right now. It's OK to admit that, the Big 2 today are still both capable of being truly upper echelon: 95 or 96/100 type players. It's a decline from their 99/100 mythical peak levels but not much. Don't blame Djokovic's physical fatigue, just admit that keeping that level he reached in his 8th hour of tennis in ~30 hours was nearly an impossible feat against the greatest clay player of all time.

Those who questioned Djokovic's tear during AO then trust this statement unconditionally are B.i.t.c.h.e.s ))))
Yeps, @octogon takes this statement true but I can guarantee you that most of the Rafa fans were abusing in AO.
Why not take that statement true also

100% fitted or not, this Djoko would lose to this Claydal.

Of course, Djoko could say: I skipped Madrid so I had no enough time to practice my defense, or I had to play 6 hours v.v... but he didn't do that.

Huge respect )))))))))))))))

Yes, we have got to believe what/why he says and how he feels as well as we need to consider how a competitive edge is gained.

Guess you saw a different match. I dunno why you think Rafa will magically make a huge consistency jump in just a couple weeks. If anything I’d be terrified by this match if I was a Rafa fan. It literally boiled down to a handful of points and Rafa had to make some insane redlining shots to pull it out.

This post is utterly delusional. Nadal looked even far more shakier last year (and in other years pre-RG). He didn't win a single clay warm-up. Then he won RG without dropping a set This year, he's won 2 clay tournaments, and beat every single potential threat to him (aside from Thiem) along the way (Tsitsipas, Zverev, Djokovic). This is 95% likely to be a routine Nadal Roland Garros victory.

What are you talking about?

First set was incredibly tight. Could have gone either way, but Rafa snatched it. Rafa went on a mental walkabout for the entirety of the second set, which Novak steamrolled. Novak was solid for most of the third set, but Rafa picked up his level to win.

Novak played the best he was capable of playing on clay for at least two and a half sets. There were no huge mental lapses from him and he looked physically strong through the whole match (which he confirmed he was). Nadal was absolutely terrible for at least one set. Djokovic wasn't subpar at any point. He needs to play his very best just to lose to Rafa on clay in three sets.
Is this another version of the “Nadal only loses if injured” routine?

;)

Nah this is the close cousin, this is “If the match was a toss up it’s because Rafa’s opponent was redlining and Rafa is about to dramatically improve”

Not at all. Djokovic has downed Rafa at Rome before like 2014 and lost to him at the FO. I don't care how the match goes, Nadal beating Djokovic on clay before RG is only good news.

Djokovic said the same when he lost RG 2020 too, said he could've gone on for more hours if the 3rd set extended to 4th

respect

it also seems like he's taking another dig at the Next Gen with these comments about not feeling tired, if I was Thiem I'd be feeling second hand embarrassment from these comments

- haters’ reaction had he used the fatigue excuse : "always making stupid excuses, no class as usual, no wonder nobody likes him, he’s truly despicable"
- haters’ reaction now that he denied fatigue was a thing : "haha, Rafa is just the better player, in your face, Djokovic fanboys !"

Gotta give them props for always finding a way to be unclassy, that’s impressive.

Well, it was magnanimous of him to say that, but given how close the match was, less play the day before very likely could have made a difference.

Actually he might have lost even easier cause maybe the matches the day before brought him some extra match toughness, more confidence and he got in a clay groove. He already said that he wasn’t tired so that means it wasn’t an issue.

Pure speculation on everyone's part, but I'd rather we see a match with equal rest.

Nadal has benefited a lot recently in things like this in this match and in the FO when Thiem had to finish off Djokovic over two days in a windstorm. I am not a conspiracy theorist other than Nadal or Uncle Toni getting an umpire removed from his matches, but if the shoe had been on the other foot and Djokovic had won, then the Nadal apologist would say that Nadal was tired and didn't look his best even if Nadal said he was fine. To say that fatigue has no part in matches where the difference is a few points is a bit extreme.

Believe what you want but Djokovic will never beat Nadal on clay again.

Thank you Djokovic for proving that your own fans are completely wrong and crybabies. (y)

Why do you include all of his fans? I never said anything about fatigue after the match, and I'm sure many of his fans are with me!

You're accusing all of his fans of generalizing! But you're doing just that!

Yes I'm including all of his fans including you.

Also if there's currently a pregnant woman who is fan of Djokovic then I'm also automatically including her yet to be born baby as part of his fans.

Sorry!

What’s funny is that Nadal won. You’d think all fans would be happy. But I guess some are bothered by that 6-1 set. So out come the excuses.  :-D

That means that all your 100 posts full of excuses for Djokovic were completely wrong and a waste of time.

It's sad because I expect better from someone who is supposedly a Federer fan. Maybe your account was hacked or something but you can now stop making excuses for Thirdwheelovic.

:giggle:
One more tournament before Nadal gets injured!
Not an excuse, though...tradition...

I’m not particularly a Nadal or Djokovic fan, but in the highlights of that match I thought Nadal just looked like a machine. I don’t think any human would have beat him. I mean, Nadal had fight in him like I’ve never seen.

You should know this. It is similar to how some Djoker fans say how Novak didn't play that well in W19 but Roger did and how Novak still beat him. This is to create unnecessary hype surrounding the player the fan likes especially Rafa and Novak. If the said player loses, they can always say he wasn't playing all that well and that is why he lost. How convenient lol. They never accept that the other player played well enough to beat him.
Rafaholics still cite injuries when Roger and Novak beat him in AO17 and AO19. Novak did the same in USO19 v Wawrinka yet he turned up for the Asia leg like nothing happened. Novak had a history of retiring when he was young and in a losing situation. Nadalovic fans think Rafa or Novak turn into monsters on demand and Roger is some mentally weak ballet dancer who happens to play tennis in a weak era.
Also for the most part, Roger credits the opponent while Rafa or Novak have cited injuries with an add on of "my opponent played well too. its not an excuse". The fans take it from the personas that the big 3 have created but this "he didn't play well, injuries, etc" is surely something that Rafa and Novak are specialized in. Novak is learning from Roger not to give excuses. That is why he said such things now that he didn't say before. I agree that he was more tired than Rafa in the Rome final.
Roger said once in 2015 that he is playing the best tennis. And Nole fans caught on to that and started calling him Peakerer. Yet now that Nole is reaching the stage that Roger was in 2015, the same guys are giving these excuses such as "he's so tired, he should stop playing in clay, poor scheduling from Rome organizers considering his age, they are shafting Novak because they want Rafa to win". That's why I use the term Peakovic to annoy these trolls.
