Djokovic is #1 again - 35 weeks to go to Federer

Have to think Nole is getting this. He’s threatened by many at slams but I don’t see any other player with the consistency needed to be #1. At least for a while.
Nadal will rack up points at american hard courts and on clay. Nadal though will i think hardly play after Uso anymore so he is relying on 2/3rds of season to be no.1. If Djokovic is fit and plays a full schedule then Djokovic looks like he will be no.1 for a while as he is top 3 in all conditions anywhere.

I believe it is, because the rest will split the points among each other. Novak will not be ahead by 5000 points but he will have enough to get very close or beat the record.

Federer is properly fukced. His both greatest records (Slams and Weeks) could get broken this year or next. Djokovic could break Weeks record while both Nadovic are in striking distance to break Slam record. Unless Tennis gods pull some miracle, Federer' legacy is in big danger. At this moment it looks certain Weeks record will fall this season.

Atp race:
Djokovic 2665
Thiem 1265
Zverev 720
Federer 720
Rublev 680
Nadal 610
Wawa 450
Med 435

Novak already gained great lead, most importantly against Nadal who is his main rival for no1 at the end of the year...

Youngster are inconsistent till now, best in that department was Med, but he is already 2200 points down... Maybe Thiem can became treath?

If Novak gets record no. of weeks at No.1 and if he can also get record no. of years ending as no.1 then I don't see how he can't be GOAT regardless of no. of slams? So if he ends 2020 as world no.1, is that record too? He was overtaken by Nadal last year in the end so he missed huge chance to solve this issue. So, in two more years we will have better picture about GOAT, still it is not very clear. Also, what would be Novak's dream this year is Olympic gold. That would immortalize him for sure in tennis hall of fame along with other records that will never be broken i.e. number of weeks. So, I guess Srdjan was right 14 years ago when he said that Novak will be the greatest ever. He believed in his son.

Fed didn’t lose to Roddick

And Nadal won like 9 majors before Djoker got his second . Nadal has overlap with Fed more than Djoker

Federer was born in 1981
Nadal was born in 1986
Djokovic was born in 1987

It is pretty clear who Nadal is more of a contemporary of.

Either way you can't say "Nadal got old" when he is almost the same age as Djokovic. That would be like saying Federer began winning since Safin and Hewitt got old.

Whose to say Roger won't win another slam?

You can't be the Greatest whilst theres a guy with 3+ more slams than you. It just doesn't work that way.

When it's all said and done--the big three retiring, Fed will have no major records left. Can he still be considered GOAT? Though Fed has one ace up the sleeve. He can try to break Connors career singles titles record by poaching challenger and futures titles.

Djokovic will never be no.1 in people's hearts. I predicted that the crowd would support Thiem more in this match and I was proved right. And this one was in Nole's pet slam. A new competitor was cheered more than the champion. This message is for the trolls not for Nole fans. Fedemperor will always be no.1. Its better that he accepts this rather than taking into his heart. It will put him at ease. He can have the records (y)

One thing is certain, neither Nadal or Djokovic are the GOAT nor will ever be based on inflating stats in 30s.

Nadal is clay GOAT that’s about it. Djokovic slow court GOAT.

Ned isn't defending a whole lot of points starting from here to Rome. Provided he stays healthy (which is a big if lol) I can see him grabbing back the top spot. Then again, Djokovic also has even less points to defend up to Madrid.

We could be in for a year like 2017 with Djokovic and Nadal trading places at #1 throughout the season

Djokovic has little to defend until Madrid, so he should at least pass Sampras (286 vs 275+1)

As Federer fans we must be fair. We cannot say "Djokovic and Nadal will never win anything when they are over 30 because that’s way too difficult" at first, and then if they indeed win downplay their achievements. Either it is a great and difficult achievement or not. There is no such thing as "inflation". Either a player has great domination AND longevity or not. All Slam titles are equally legitimate, since they all mean that there was no better tennis players in the world for that 2 weeks.

In the end it is always about pure numbers, because everything else would be subjective and not provable. Besides that, the whole public never cares a lot about circumstances anyway. If Federer is overtaken in pure numbers, Nadal or Djokovic will be praised as GOAT, no doubt about that.

I want Federer to be GOAT after the Big 3 era is over, but he has to earn it on the court. I still have hopes he will prevail, but if not I would have to congratulate one of the other two.
