Djokovic is a lock to win the 2026 AO

I think Djokovic is now the favorite to win the 2026 Australian Open. 75% chance.

Sinner has shown that he is vulnerable in the heat and struggled to even beat Spizzirri. If Shelton beats Sinner, it'll be even easier for Djokovic to reach the finals.

Djokovic has had two opponents withdraw (including not having to play 1 round), making his path easier and age will be less of a factor in the semis and finals since he didn't have to play full matches.

Most likely he will face Alcaraz in the final and Alcaraz has not been able to beat him in the AO. (lost to Djokovic last year).

If sinner/alcaraz forget how to play tennis or get injured/cramp it possible.

If not then it will be futile. Still he did great getting this far albeit with a big slice of luck for this event.

In a weird scenario

Ben Shelton beating Sinner and Zverev beating Alcaraz could maybe help Novak ?

They would be better than Sinner and Alcaraz for sure, but take a look at how it was against Musetti, nothing is for sure anymore in the latter stages.

He shouldn't have even been in the semi after being outplayed so thoroughly. 0 sets won in 4R and QF and he's into the semi. Has this ever happened before? I wouldn't rule out him winning the whole thing just based on his luck.
I wouldn’t worry. Sinner/alcaraz are still in and their bodies made of stronger stuff than rest of the field.

lads, dont be so sure
when musetti won the second set, we thought that he was so calm to play the 3rd but it turned out he was unhappy with the coming retirement
who knows sincaraz would retire even at championship point
i really cant accept the shxt era players fail to play properly and let djoker win so easily (nothing in relation to djoker at all)

when you enjoy a lucky retirement in a tough match you 100% dominate the rest of the tournament, see 2022 French Open and 2025 Wimbledon.

Yes, he looked slower, lacking power depth all in the same match vs Musetti, so that augurs bad for him against SInner-Raz too.

Looks like this is the end, no number 25 unless he manages to fluke out something on Grass. I have never seen him this bad in the Rod Laver arena when he was fit, today's was his worst performance in decades assuming he was full fit and this is what we saw, thoroughly outplayed by a younger guy.

Time waits for no one.

Despite being slower and older now, I think Djokovic has a good chance because oftentimes in rallies he is dictating the point. If he can make it past Sinner, then he'll beat Alcaraz.

Reminds me of Federer toward the end of his career, dictating points and running less. In the heat against Djokovic, any player can break down physically and either retire, get exhausted or injured.

The semi final was always going to be his ceiling, he achieved it.
Musseti just lost when he was about to win.
I’ll be honest with you if he even wins a set against peak sinner at nearly 39 I’ll celebrate it like he’s won a grand slam! :-D :p
Winning 1 set against Sinner is the real target now.
Forget winning match.
This was as far as he can reach and he reached SF.
(Mensik would have defeated him in R4
Musseti was playing well till injury came)
Lucky but if he wins against Sinner i will call him hardworking.

Most interesting outcome: Sinner gets injured, Zverev beats Alcaraz, Djokovic fans become overexcited and Djokovic haters become depressed about the inevitability of #25... and then Zverev wins his maiden Slam.

I think the All But Zverev Brigade has super powers, too. Not sure whose cancel each other out.

Context matters. Ya Joker made the semi. But look how he made it. Easiest draw. And two retirements. Just think if he had zverevs draw. He can no longer grind out matches against good players consecutively and he knows that. He was trying to shorten points being aggressive but that's never been his A game. Father time beats everybody. Sinner better save tennis and not retire this match.

he would need Roger's touch, net skill and slice to win on grass.

Federer's playstyle did not rely on grinding on the baseline, rather playing more risky but shorter points going often to the net

The odds of that scenario happening has to be something like 1,000,000,000 to 1.
Probably be better of betting the house on another Sincaraz final
Would be interesting to see if Alcaraz can compete the career grand slam. Feel like that is storyline nobody seems to be talking about.

Just having some good time but tbh as a Sinner fan i fear Novak more than Carlos at RLa

Even at this stage of their careers?

Djokovic is slower, it is obvious when he is running to the corners, he looks half a step off, Alcaraz has the stamina and belief to go all the way with Sinner here even if it goes 5 hours. I don't think Novak believes he can do that, he would need to win a lot quicker, and no way is Sinner going down easily.

Djokovic plays to win. Always.
