Djokovic is cracked

When Vajda was back as a Djokovic's coach in 2018, one of the first things he asked Novak was to add more protein into his diet. He was too skinny at the time and he didn't have enough strength, he needed more muscles. So Novak started adding fishes etc. to his vegan diet and what we see of Novak today might result from that change.

Wimbledon was a breeze physically. Djoker is rested and physically ready. No doubt about it. The rest is mental and Djoker is a mental Guru. He is ready to enter the draconian Tokyo Bubble and bring home Olympic Gold.

Point to where on his body Nadal should lose weight/muscle please

Post a pic from the rear, there's your answer. He bulked up his glutes and legs, they are massive. Arms too.

However, Novak has a more naturally lean frame than either Nadal (huge legs and arms) or Federer (massive shoulders). So it's not realistic to expect Rafa to look like Novak.

Nadal does not have a massive anything. You must have 9-inch arms if you think Nadal's arms are massive.

Djokovic probably couldn’t even bench 180lbs. Tennis players should aspire to get a body like Nadal or Fuscovics
Based on what? His muscle size? Hypertrophy builds big muscles, strength training less so. This guy could very likely bench 250 lbs +, you have no way of knowing it.

K bro

Not sure why this is even a point of argument, Nadal is an extremely thickly muscled guy for a tennis player. Left bicep is legendary

He is not thickly muscled at all. And his left bicep is lean, vascular and has good separation from his forearm. It's very aesthetic but NOT huge.

Nadal could take a leaf out of his book and lose some weight. All that muscle Nadal is carrying is not helping him at 35 years old to win slams.
Agree. Rafa coming in 15-20 lbs over weight at RG. Didn't look like all muscle either. To maintain court speed should trim down.

I guess if you're comparing him to a bodybuilder but I'm trying to keep it in context. For a tennis player he is very meaty and extremely ripped.

Edit--listed weights may be off, but Nadal is listed at 6'1"/187 while Djok is 6'2"/176. That's a big difference.

He is in fantastic physical shape. It's been noticeable this year, even with his shirt on.
"Physical" as for his fitness, not his muscularity. His sponsors seem to provide him with those tight shirts, perhaps purposely. I am guessing this is some marketing strategy from the female sexist administrators from the office of the shirt producers.

Idiots were commenting that he looked fat lol. The same people who call Stan fat.

It's just amazing that you think he has big arms. You're an ignoramus. Nadal has moderately sized arms that look "big" to the uninitiated because he's lean and vascular. The dead giveaway for Nadal not having big arms at all is that his left bicep is bigger than his triceps. Anyone who lifts for any kind fo size will have a triceps that is much bigger than his bicep. You're fooled by the fact that he is lean and has a good amount of separation between his bicep and forearm which is just genetics. And you're the one using convenient photos. Nadal has no muscle or weight to lose:

It's so easy to gain mucless and lose weight. You must be aware of the flipside to that.

Nice pic.
Australian Open 2021 coverage showed a before and after of Novak to show how much muscle he had put on. Brad Gilbert estimated a 7 pound gain.
I remember it so clearly because I didn't like Novak the twig from 2017-2020 (he weighed more years prior) and was shocked he finally felt the same way ;)
I don't remember if Fowler, Gilbert, or Cahill said it, but Novak wanted to feel stronger in long matches and felt he was fading before. I'm most encouraged by the fact that he's kept most of it on. His arms are definitely more toned. There's another great sleeveless one from Tokyo shaking hands with Murray.
I think this is an under the radar reason for his increased confidence and performance in consecutive long matches this year: AO (2nd round - QFs), FO (4th round - F) this year, and Rome (QF - F). He knows he can hang physically.

Rough guess but I imagine the #1 tennis player in the world is pretty damn strong for the amount of bulk he runs around with.
But he is not. He has very little muscle mass. Great proportion for sure. But he is not strong. Just because runners are fit doesn't mean they are strong.

Take a look at half the football players in three world. They are insanely fit, but they would get pushed around in contact sports.

Lmao, he can’t bench that much
Obviously you don't know a whole lot about weightlifting. There's literally no way you can definitively say that he can't. I can't say that he CAN, but that's because I know that people can be a lot stronger than they look, especially if they're focusing only on building strength instead of muscle. Get a clue LOL

Oh but I do. I’ve been weightlifting seriously for 16 years now. Since then I’ve seen maybe 2 people (just on YouTube) who were around Djokovic’s size lift that much or a bit higher. I’m well aware of strength=/=
hypertrophy, but for 99% of people, solely “strength” training will still lead to fairly significant hypertrophy gains over time.
