Until 2021 both SFs and F were guaranteed to be played in a night session.
2022 SF Nadal vs Berrettini was in a day session.

He is the guy for the sleeping hours, I agree. He is the guy for the prime hours, of course![]()
The biggest name in tennis, being put on prime time....seems like good business to me.
Welcome to Mr. G's room. Where it's always nighttime.Chris Lilley has a lot to answer for.
Not that it would have made any difference, but it is another hilarious nail in the coffin of the idea that any establishment is conspiring against Djokovic, who seems to enjoy every advantage imaginable.
lol
This formula for good business only conceived in 2023, of courseThe biggest name in tennis, being put on prime time....seems like good business to me.
He was also the first defending champ to be wrongly banned from playing and deported too. It takes a bit to make up for that.
You don't think Nadal requested to play the day session last year as much as possible, in conditions that favor his game?No one is surprised that you fail to grasp the issue, as usual
How about the comments from Tiley to the press before the tournament even started in order to discipline the crowd for his favorite?
You don't think Nadal...
Goat treatment .![]()

So had Fed at Wimbledon, he still got pushed out (maybe thanks to Djokovic complaining, no less)He has earned prime time, all power to him.
Players can make scheduling requests to the tournament. Top players are usually granted such requests. Nadal and Djokovic are top players. You do the mathAgain no one is surprised that you too tail to see the issue here either.

What are the rules norms and procedures?Maybe, maybe not but that's not why we have rules, norms and procedures
It's not like that would make things equal. Even if he played all day sessions he'd still get the benefit of always playing on a show court, as all the top seeds do. There's always favoritism towards the top players because thats who fans want to see. It’s a bit creepy. And it’s not Djo’s fault. What creeps me out is the favouritism. I’d like to think tennis slams were won in the fairest possible way. Djokovic should at least play two matches in the day. What I dislike about this is that tennis is being manipulated and this reminds me of the reality of it being a business and AO wants the record for titles won to compete with RG. Creepy.
It wouldn’t have made any difference. This is because Tiley needs to sell out night sessions, because Kyrgios pulled out last minute.
Who else on the bottom half would have deserved a night session over him? Casper Ruud? Rublev? Paul?
What are the rules norms and procedures?
I agree he should’ve played day sessions, but the field is so barren that he’s basically the only recognizable name on the bottom half, both men’s and women’s.

It's mainly Tiley's fault, but Djoko has again and again said how night time on RLA is his favorite court and playing conditions. Who knows how much he's tried to influence the decisions behind closed doors (as all the big names tend to do)It’s a bit creepy. And it’s not Djo’s fault. What creeps me out is the favouritism. The tournament didn't deport Djokovic. Quite the opposite actually as they tried to subvert federal regulations in his favor.
Tiley has done more for Djokovic than any slam TD we've seen before.
But he was never banned from the Australian Open tennis tournament. It was the Australian legal authorities that deported him. We still don't know how much the Australian Open and Tennis Australia were involved in the Djokovic "medical exemption" business of November 2021 to January 2022. Being deported usually means a 3-year ban before possible re-entry as well, but Djokovic was allowed back less than 1 year later. He was also the first defending champ to be wrongly banned from playing and deported too. It takes a bit to make up for that.
They all do it. It's specially hilarious to see Nadal fans outraged at this seeing how their idol got 4/5 day sessions last year. Much harder to justify than giving 5/5 night sessions to a big name like Djokovic, in particular this year where a lot of big names got bounced out earlyIt's mainly Tiley's fault, but Djoko has again and again said how night time on RLA is his favorite court and playing conditions. Who knows how much he's tried to influence the decisions behind closed doors (as all the big names tend to do)

Son, Didn't know prime hour guys get booed at every slam by the crowd. If you mean prime hour villain then we can all agree on.
I usually don't like this because I feel everyone should have to play at least one match in the heat like everyone else
Lendl sometimes had one of those baseball caps with flappers on the sides to protect his neck from the heat at the Australian Open.Yeah was thinking about this. He will play at night tomorrow for his semi. So he can be the first person in the history of tennis who plays seven night matches at a major. This is yet another reason you can't compare eras. Laver didn't play a night match at any major his entire career. Now the AO has night sessions on 3 courts! That's an incredible amount of night matches. Players of the past had to suffer in horrible heat more often than players today(and there wasn't a heat rule in effect in the 80s/90s, so roof was never closed except for rain. I remember watching many matches where it looked like players might collapse, even super fit guys like Lendl.
Nadal's game is maximally effective during the day, this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyoneAre you actually suggesting he preferred the day? He nearly died on-court of heat stroke vs. Shapovalov and had to battle through diarrhea to win lol
