Djokovic is the first ever AO semifinalist who hasn't played in a day session

So what is big deal. In absence of Fedal they need Djokovic on every night session..

The 'big deal' is that it's not fair that one player only be scheduled for night sessions. We've always had more famous or important players and they have always been scheduled for at least one day session.

It’s also not fair for umpires to be lax with Nadal and Djokovic on the amount of time they take between points, it’s not fair for the Paris Masters to change the surface of their tournament to attract Federer, it’s not fair for Nadal to play all seven matches on Chatrier in RG ‘20, it’s not fair for Madrid to change the composition of their courts because Nadal and Djokovic threatened to boycott, etc. Yet predictably you only complain when Djokovic is lucky enough to be the beneficiary of privileges that any of them would probably receive in his stead, if they pushed hard enough (with this one being as mild as it gets considering the surrounding circumstances: didn’t significantly swing the outcome of the tournament and would’ve been a complete nonissue if they simply scheduled him early in a first round match he was a mortal lock to win).

It’s so demonstrably clear you’re majoring in minors here that even a gaggle of posters that aren’t what you would call Djokovic fans (TS, Kralingen, FedFather) are quick to rebuke this nonsense, yet you persist in trying to pass your opinion off as self-evidently true, all the while accusing others of “gaslighting”. Really an impressive display, this.

Djokovic can play every match on Rod Laver Arena, nobody is questioning that. The issue is playing in the heat of the day is vastly more taxing on the body than playing in the cool of the evening. The conditions are also faster during the day so players that have a day match followed by a night have a to adjust to different conditions. Djokovic has played every match at the same time on the same court with the same conditions and if you don't realize this is a major advantage you obviously don't play tennis. The issue here is that Craig Tiley is protecting what he perceives to be his major drawcard at the expense of the rest of the field. Tiley and his running of the AO really needs to be brought into question, last years debacle concerning Djokovic, the use of Dunlop tennis balls that have been criticized non stop by players and commentators, and now the blatant favoritism towards Djokovic.

The semi-final was probably played at night so that the Prime Minister of Australia could attend a Djokovic match, so don't blame Tiley for that.

And for the umpteenth time: none of this would have even been brought up had his first round match against someone he was in no danger to lose to started just a few hours earlier. Would have been the reverse of Nadal’s scheduling last year where he, the guy that’s notorious for preferring day sessions, played four of his five pre-SF matches in the day. This is typical favouritism shown to the biggest gate attractions, I don’t condone it but it’s par for the course. The favouritism shown to Djokovic is the latest manifestation, and it’s on the milder side.

What creeps me out is the favouritism. I’d like to think tennis slams were won in the fairest possible way.

I feel like the seeding system is already a favouritism for the top players. So it's not really 100% "fair", it's a mix of business and competition.

It's about $$$ and considering they broke attendance records, they got what they wanted. I usually don't like this because I feel everyone should have to play at least one match in the heat like everyone else, but this is the coolest AO I have ever seen. Heat is not a factor this year.

I saw on Flashscore that play was suspended multiple times earlier in the tournament, I assumed it was because of heat, was it not ?

Matches are scheduled for night session, balls are not the way they were before, court is slower, era is weak, players are mugs, harms the sport……

Common narrative which rival fans and their players make while actually producing sub par tennis when it matters.

More whataboutism, citing random posters and simple denial from you.

Very simple and very obvious.

As tournament organizer, Tiley's duty is to the overall profitability of the tournament and with this depleted field Djokovic was his greatest asset.

Yes, if you are going to complain on a point of principle you must demonstrate consistency. To demand that someone proves consistency is not whataboutism.

More whataboutism,

Expecting a uniform standard to be applied in your appraisals of TB3 and the favouritism they receive is just that; you can attach a hackneyed label to it if you wish, but it doesn’t negate its salience.

simple denial from you.

What exactly have I denied? That favouritism took place? I’ve affirmed it likely did, to some degree.
