Just watching Djoko vs Medvedev and I am turned off by Djoko's lack of emotion. He used to pump himself more. What happened????

Saving his energy for Friday's match against Zverev whom he has a better chance of beating in order to make the semis?
Thats a good point but i hope that is not the case cos that is not the best attitude to have esp if you want to get to 20 Slams and have to face guys like Medvedev in the course.

At this stage he may be pacing himself (he's lost round robins before and gone on to win the title) but expect him to raise his level if he gets to the semis.

Wow, I can't believe not smashing rackets can actually be a detriment to your game. Maybe we should start encouraging it less at the junior level?

Son: "Dad, I'm losing real bad, what do I do?"
Dad: "Son, you have to smash your racket"
Son: "But da-"
Dad: "No buts, remember what I told you about not showing emotion?"
Son: "But-"
Dad: "Didn't you learn anything from Novak Djokovic? What happened to him when he stopped smashing rackets?"
*Son lets out a deep sigh and proceeds to smash his racket*
Dad: "Well done son, now go beat your opponent!"
Son: "Thanks dad, but could you get my other racket?"
Dad: "What other racket?"
Son: "..."
Dad: "..."

Do you folks reckon that perhaps there is some lingering effect of Covid that has caused this degradation in performance since the summer?
