I'm not sure.

I think McEnroe meant it as a compliment, but perhaps it's misquoted, cause the quote actually means that he's unable to be top 5, cause he would be if he could.
Yes, I think McEnroe meant it as a compliment. And then Djokovic tried to cool the flames with Kyrgios by liking what he perceived to be a compliment and it has backfired on him.

This is the modern day tennis rivalry. No stare downs, arguments or getting in each other's face on court. Just people tweeting and liking instagram posts.
Yeahhhh it's been a long time but I remember every face. Do you remember your first?
Mine was this Tsonga boy at the battle of Melbourne.
My winners to unforced errors ratio was off so I was slogging through the baseline waiting for him to make errors. He came running at me, this dumb, French lad; thinking he could end the war with a single swing of his FH.
I blew him off the court. Didn't give him any edge at all. Gods I was strong then.
They never tell you how they all shït themselves when they are out of things to do. That part is not in the runner up speech.
Now the French bend the knee like everyone else.

how is this a compliment? :-D "if he was able to do it" means he isn’t able to do it, that’s why he’s not there.

if this is a compliment it’s hella poorly phrased.

The quote is taken out of context (well only sorta since the caption kind of gets to the heart of things). The "it" in "if he was able to do it" is referring to giving an honest effort.

I think Djokovic is liking a post that is positive about Nick Kyrgios.

You can see why Djokovic is not too mindful of Nick's record over him. It really is ancient history.

Novak has won four majors since they last played.

This Djokovic vs Kyrgios public relationship is starting to take on almost fatherly overtones, with Nick acting out and being willful, and Novak providing unending support and hope for the youngster, despite his delinquent behaviour.

The same social accounts of Djokovic that posted his pictures with Wimbledon trophy while he was still in the trophy presentation. I would doubt if it's actually Djokovic that liked that post.

This post is right on the mark. Not sure about top 5 but Kyrgios would be ranked higher with a better mental and more discipline, that's for sure.

Nadal intimidated Kyrgios big time. Stared him down and after that Kyrgios was very quiet. Nadal the hardest of the pro players apparently if it came down to a fist fight as Rosol would testify.

I'd be surprised if Novak actually ever views instagram personally. I would imagine he has a team handling his socials like Bull.

Isn't this a compliment to Nick as it is saying he is very talented?
Taken in isolation the quote means Kyrgios is incapable of making the top 5. There was clearly a sentence before where McEnroe was talking about what would happen if Kyrgios was dedicated....but that's not what Djokovic is liking. He likes the post because it's a dig at Kyrgios.

Remember when Bull was doing the Roland Garros trophy presentation and someone on his Twitter acc uploaded a 12th RG pic?

Physically, Nick probably could reach the top 5. Mentally, I doubt he can or perhaps he just doesn't care enough to be in the top 10. Whatever, trashing all time great players Nadal and especially Novak, makes him look very stupid.

Novak is such a nice person. Even here the comment he liked speaks positively of where Kyrgios could be if he applied himself. Me, personally, I would tell him to go puck himself but I'm not as good of a man as Djokovic is. All I know is, it might be a while before Kyrgios tries to throw shade at Novak again on Twitter. They clowned him into the ground on that post after Novak won Wimbledon. He is great entertainment after all.

Liking "someone else's criticism/evaluation of another player" seems a little juvenile and/or lazy. If you have something to say, say it! I'm surprised pro tennis players actually read instagram or FB comments, no disrespect intended Novak (just in case you are on this forum with a fake account, I think you are a pretty good player).

That's probably one step too far; doubt any of the top players have the time and inclination to actually post here. Granted, they can just read the comments without even having an account...that is more likely.

Novak? Is that you???
Sorry, my post was somewhat in jest. But kidding aside, Novak has an account, that's how we know he liked the post.

stupidest thing John has written, if Kyrios could change his brain, his attitude, his work ethic and 25+ years of experience and doing things his way, he could totally be top 5.

He'd be fcking different person. He is who he is. Sht if Spud Webb had Manute Bol's height he'd be dunking on a 15ft rim. But these things are so far out there why even say it.

Kyrgios:

Djokovic loses to Kyrgios twice.

This pretty much says it all
At first my mind didn't click that you were referring to Novak losing twice to Nick on the court. I thought you were referencing that Novak lost to Nick on two of those things you stated (i.e. Kyrgios "sleep and pulling women"....versus just "sleep" for Djokovic....Kyrgios wins!) ;)

Kyrgios behaviour against Nole online may become more timid after their next match :happydevil:

You forgot the partying and drinking for Nick, on game night.
