Djokovic looks to be a cut above Alcaraz and Sinner .... I feel they don't stand a chance against him

Who will win the Australian Open 2024 based on your current observation ?????

Tsitsipas is really onto something here. I read someone say he looked terrible in the charity match, has back issues and was on the way out in R1, ppl were joking in the singles thread when the match was on. This is an interesting development for him. Can he create an upset or two when there’s no expectation for/from him!?
Brother he will lose worse than last year vs Djokovic. He looks great because he has no challenge yet.

But Djokovic will expose his back issues definitely.

It's really boring and probably correct to say Djokovic will still win.

But I am backing Sinner here. Just have a feeling about him.

That is not fully correct, he had peak Wilander around also who beat him in slam finals. And Lendl beat the most peak version of McEnroe in 84 for his first slam. So no.

Sinner will win slams
Question is if he'll do it the nice way or just the boring way

The timezone difference has made it hard to catch matches this year because work is crazy right now and I need sleep. I really haven't watched much tennis and haven't seen one Djokovic match yet. I really don't know how any of the favorites are playing. I did catch some of those thrillers with Zverev and Ruud last night though.

As @dking68 said, before r3 Novak's level was not enough to beat Sinner.

But NOW, Novak's level is really enough to compete with Sinner. Will be definitely beat Sinner? Not yet. But he can beat Sinner at this level definitely.

Those who got the difference will not keep speculating now.
I still think it’s Sinners time. Sinner in 5. Novak to lose his first semifinal. Written in the stars

Sinner to beat Djokovic but lose to Dimitrov in finals

Sinner will win slams eventually. It's just a matter of how he wins them.

Because I don't think people will be fawning over him if he only wins them after Djokovic retires.

his draw has already fell apart... could've had murray then stan/shelton... instead some random mug then mannarino (mug). any money it's fritz then rublev for QF/SF too. ideally tsitipas then sinner.

If Novak doesn't improve his level then he has no chance.

Now Novak has improved his level already. So he has chance right? 10 time champion, the GOAT, 4 time defending champion, does he have

ANY

Chance vs God level Sinner ?

He has a chance but Sinner won’t lose another 5 setter. I think his time has come

This changes nothing really. Murray is clearly over the hill and wouldn't have been more troublesome than Etcheverry and same for Stan.

These guys have not been a problem for Djokovic for over half a decade now. Their names mean nothing.

at least wawrinka could perhaps get hot and push djokovic for a few sets ... much better than rolling over in 3 straightforward sets. murray would've fought hard too.

If he beats Nole and Carlos back to back, he would reach Djokovic 2011 level. Let's see.
He’s not 2011 level. He’s Djokovic 2013 level. Before 2024 I voted 7 titles for Sinner 1 of them being a slam and 3 masters. I don’t see Sinner winning 5 masters and 3 slams this year.

Pretty good slate of fourth round matches - Djokovic-Mannarino, Fritz-Tsitsipas, Sinner-Khachanov and Rublev-ADM. Hope we also get Alcaraz-Paul, Zverev-Ruud, Dimitrov-Medvedev and Hurkacz-Griekspoor as the lineup on the other half of the draw after today’s matches.

lol at hyping 37 year old Murray and Stan. They are legit as washed as can be. I watched Murray play Etch, he looked absolutely horrendous. Stan too has about 45 minutes of play on him and then he literally has the worst movement on tour. They would pose zero threat whatsoever.

Bad ball knowledge.

I actually thought Popyrin did pretty well for what he could, before the choke. Prizmic as well had a lot of athleticism and verve. Better than Murray and Stan at least.

He can't do that anymore. He's done.

I'm sure he fought hard against Etcheverry too and it meant nothing.
point being, stan and murray would at least make it interesting for a few sets and push djokovic. instead, Etcheverry and mannarino have and will undoubtedly lose in 3 very easy sets. i fully expect him to face a rublev or kachanov in the SF too.

Why wouldn't Alcaraz, Sinner and Medvedev all have a chance? 2 of them have beaten him in Slams.
Alcaraz has a 10% chance at best. He's not there yet and his last meetings with Djokovic left a lot to be desired. To me Wimb was a miracle unless the margins start going his way convincingly moving forward.

Medvedev has lost 6 of his last 8 matches with Djokovic including 2 straight sets drubbings in GS finals. And he hasn't shown anything different to convince me he can do it.

Sinner scored some nice wins over Djokovic at YEC and Davis Cup, but it ain't happening in BO5. And Djokovic crushed him in their most important matches last year anyway. Wimb and YEC F told me everything :D

I missed both matches but probably a lot better. Sorry to say but Andy and Stan are done.

both better early round opponents than anyone djokovic can face in r1-4. end of discussion.

So if they're better early round opponents than Etcheverry and Mannarino...

Why didn't they beat Etcheverry and Mannarino?

End of discussion because you're clearly wrong and have no clue what you're talking about :-D

Which is honestly downright sad.
in what way? no one can beat Novak?
sorry but sinner is not versatile enough and reminds Berdych, and Alcaraz will not sustain a peak without injuries with his overplaying every point..
what's sad is what's left without Novak.. again, the level of play will go down with average players suddenly winning stuff.

I still back Sinner to win. I put 200 on him
I love your confidence in your favorite player. And you back him with tact, You never trash anybody. You simply back your favorite player in a classy way. I love it. When I had Medvedev taking out Sinner last time, you corrected me. You mentioned how much he had improved. And you were right. I happily ate my words. It was done tactfully without trashing other players or posters. That's what being a good fan is all about.

Sinner isn't my favorite player. But he seems to be a good guy that works incredibly hard at his craft. I've noticed that he's gotten much better at going to the net lately. This is a very recent improvement from the end of 2023. So I definitely get why you like this guy so much. And I wouldn't be upset if he won this tourney one bit. He's great for tennis.
