Djokovic low Final/title conversion in GS?

What is a fluke win? Also, if such a thing exists, how does it cease to exist in the semis or finals?

The only types of win that can be characterised as true 'flukes' is if the opposing player pulls out of the final or has had to retire during the match when 2 sets and a break up! In the first case, it cannot be held against the winner in any way but it still has to be recorded with a small asterisk. In the second case, because it was extremely unlikely the winner would have won if their opponent hadn't retired, the asterisk has to be considerably bigger.

No other cases for asterisks of any kind so long as a final is played to completion!

The truth is Novak has nothing to be ashamed of. None of the finals he lost was due to him being weaker player but due to outside unfair factors.

1. USO 2007 - Choked in the first final - quite normal thing to do. Was better player in the first two sets but failed to convert 7 set points.

2. USO 2010 - Exhausted and unfocused after epic SF vs Fed, while Nadal was fully rested after extremely joke of a draw and even bigger joke of the SF.

3. FO 2012 - Rain. Nadal bullied the umpire to stop the match after losing 8 games in the row and being totally humiliated. The match should have continued.

4. USO 2012 - Wind. Was better player than Murray but lost first two sets due to wind and was exhausted at the end in the 5th.

5. FO 2013 - Pascal Maria. Nothing else needs to be said. Not a final, but de facto final.

6. W 2013 - Demoralized Novak could not go vs whole country and didn't even try to compete properly in the final. Also was exhausted after another epic SF he had to endure, while Murray was cakewalking to the final.

7. USO 2013 - see USO 2010. Also Nadal's dirty tactics from Montreal and Novak still feeling Pascal Maria's injustice payed off for Nadal unfortunately. Novak was UE machine in 1st and 4th sets due to that.

8. FO 2014 - Sickness. Throwing up all over the court due to stomach flu.

So none of the loses were because Novak is unstable, or not being able to compete in finals, or him being lesser or weaker player. All loses were due to bad luck and unfavorable and unfair circumstances. Nothing more. The luck and justice have to turn at some point and the time is now.
and what about rg 2011 sf and wimbledon 2010 sf?

Nothing is more revealing than someone who cannot accept that his idol can ever lose because he was the worse player on the day. There must always be an excuse of some kind. Naturally, it can never be the case that any opponent might have extenuating circumstances to account for any loss. When the idol wins, it can only be because of his genius. When he loses it was because he was unfairly cheated in some way.

That sums up the typical fanboy on here who is merely obsessed and delusional in contrast to a true fan who accepts that his favourite has flaws and imperfections and can actually lose to a better player. In the case of the former, it is both sad and laughable at the same time!

Exactly. Like a certain fanboy who claimed Murray lost his USO match this year only because of his stamina and not because he was beaten by much better, much more skilled and superoir player on that thay. I.e. pot, kettle, etc ...

It's all about problem solving for Nadal. He lost to Nole 7 straight times in 2011, all in the final. Then he found a way to pull the odds to 50/50.

Amazing improvement, if you ask me.

If only Fed found a solution to Nadal by 2008. He would have had 20 slams by now.

And that same much better and much more skilled superior player lost in 4 to Nishikori a couple of days later

Just like the GOAT lost to someone named Cilic on the same very day.

At least Novak has a valid excuse. He played the match in the middle of the day on extreme heat which he has issues with.

Yep being 33 and coming off a 5 setter is less of an excuse than a hot day for a #1 player

Lucky Roger has 5 USO's, with Djokovic's conversion rate in finals at Flushing it would take him another 16 years to get as many

Unbelievable you find Roger's age not a valid excuse but Novak's midday match one. You are just whining.

My player doesn't have any flaws. They look like flaws, cuz he is competing with other great players.

But that doesn't mean he is mortal now. It just means others become immortal for a day or two. So, my guy is still immortal.

Poor Novak. He can't win without valid excuses.

At the end of the day I think he just doesn't bring his best game (or a level high enough to win) often enough when he plays in the final of a slam.

I loved how Kei made Djokovic's second serve look very ordinary. Poor Novak had to get in big first serves to win points on his serve. Looking forward to Kei-Novak Melbourne showdown.

Kei would need to play out of his skin to win that one, especially if the match were played at night. But I know you have never-ending faith in him where Novak's concerned.
