Few points that I think happened today -
1. First and foremost - Alcaraz showed he is no mug. A true heir to Big 3. That last set was where he showed his clutch game and nerveless attitude. Just gotta say - tennis is in safe hands
2. Djokovic showed why he is the greatest of all time. While having the slam record in his pocket, he still gave it all and it took some brilliant match play from Alcaraz to really win it. Anyone lower that today’s level of Alcaraz wasn’t winning it against this Novak.
3. USO will be massive. I don’t think Novak is done yet. Neither is Alcaraz going to go anywhere. We are in for another finals between these 2 I think
4. Slam record won’t move that easily now. Djokovic losing in Wimbledon - basically his home means - no surface is safe anymore. Alcaraz will be a massive threat in hard, clay and grass alike.
Also it’s a good news for Nadal somewhere that he can still comeback and probably show his godly game on clay and share the slam record. Highly unlikely, but not out of the realms of possibility with Nadal.
Djokovic didn’t lose like Fedals in their last slam matches so far. He lost in a final in a 5 setter against truly an ATG. He still will have his chances to win a few slams. I think another 1/2 slams. But it’s going to be tough.
