Federer never ended a year as no.1 since 2010, despite being highly competitve. This hurts his legacy.
Federer never won a slam final against 22-29 years old Djokovic/Nadal. 7 losses in 7 matches.Majority of the Federers slams in this period of time (2008-2018) happened when Nadal or Djokovic were having some personal issues or being injured, Rafa (2009-2010) and Djoker (2017-2018)...
Roger couldn't win uso15 even if his life depended on it.It's the look of a man who knows he should've won the UO. Positive winner/UE ratio compared to Djokovic in the negative, two points difference for the entire match, 19 blown BP, better first serve stats. Truly a gift from the GOAT.
Djokovic should have 13 slams.Roger couldn't win uso15 even if his life depended on it.
Fed should have 17.Djokovic should have 13 slams.
Djokovic should have 13 slams.
Fed should have 17.
2010 was djokovic's worst year from 2007-2016.
2011 onwards is what should be acceptable IMO.
Fed should have 17.
What? Almost as if he isn’t a weak era mug who vultured the field!Federer won 8 slams in an era that wasn't even his. Wow.
Federer is Fedr. What is Schwarzenegger? Schwarzngr? Is this Roger Federer or Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Fedal had 3 CYGS.Surprised, they only won 1 CYGS together. Fedal had more I believe.
They had 4 I believe. 2006,2007, 2010 and 2017. Unless you're only counting 2005-10 then yeah it'd be 3Fedal had 3 CYGS.
How you figure Novak would have 13, same way.How do you figure that? Some would say Fed has blown more slam wins than won matches in slams that he should've lost. Not that I subscribe to that theory. I'm quite happy with 20, but I'm trying to figure out the logic, outside of trolling.

Nadal was great in 2008, 09 he won a slam. Novak was great in 2008, 2009 not so much but he won a masters I think. Why not start at 2010?
His slams against Baggy and Philly don’t count. He’s lucky Nole choked hard in 2007 final, he’s lucky he didn’t play Nadal at RG in 2009, and he’s lucky cause he played pigeon Roddick at several slams as well. The 2009 Wimby was huge chock by Arof
Federer could've lost 2009 Wimbledon to Roddick you know...His slams against Baggy and Philly don’t count. He’s lucky Nole choked hard in 2007 final, he’s lucky he didn’t play Nadal at RG in 2009, and he’s lucky cause he played pigeon Roddick at several slams as well. The 2009 Wimby was huge chock by Arof
Djokovic too was lucky he didn't have to play neither Nadal nor Wawrinka when he won RG.His slams against Baggy and Philly don’t count. He’s lucky Nole choked hard in 2007 final, he’s lucky he didn’t play Nadal at RG in 2009, and he’s lucky cause he played pigeon Roddick at several slams as well. The 2009 Wimby was huge chock by Arof
Why not start at 2007? Novak reached a slam final then and was better in 2007 than he was in 2010.Nadal was great in 2008, 09 he won a slam. Novak was great in 2008, 2009 not so much but he won a masters I think.
I can discount Novak but Rafa's 3 slams, especially AO which he only won once, I wanted to include it.
2007 Novak was a kid and Rafa won a slam. The numbers I posted they failed in most of those, they did not win 2 slams, or year end no1, or WTF title. Probably won > 3 masters, most probably. Why not start at 2007? Novak reached a slam final then and was better in 2007 than he was in 2010.
Who cares? 2007 Novak was better than 2010 Novak. Him being a kid then ia irrelevant.2007 Novak was a kid and Rafa won a slam. The numbers I posted they failed in most of those, they did not win 2 slams, or year end no1, or WTF title. Probably won > 3 masters, most probably.

2010 Novak won no big titles whatsoever. Not even a masters title.
Excluding 2007 Novak is stupid.
What a terrible era.Since 2008, we are living in Djokovic Nadal combined era.
Won 28/44 slams.
Won 53/99 masters 1000s
Won 5/10 WTFs
Ranked YE no1 for 8/10 years.
They won at least 2 slams for 10/11 years, only year missing is 2009 with only 1 slam.
They won 4 or more masters for 9/11 years, only years missing is 2010 and 2017.
In 2010-12, they won 9 consecutive slams.
In 2013-14, they won 9 consecutive masters, that's 9/9 never done before (Nadal won 4 Djokovic 5).
What an absolute domination these 2 have created.
Each of them won 14 slams in that time.
Djokovic won 29 masters and 5 ATP finales.
Nadal won 24 masters.
Last time both were absent from a slam, 2004 Wimbledon.
Last time both were absent from a masters, 2005 Madrid.
Last time both were absent from a WTF, 2005.
Federer is not far behind as he won 8 slams in this era.
1 RG, 1 USO, 3 AO, 3 Wimbledon (Career slam in this era).

This.Of course there was no such thing as Djokodal duopoly as soon as 2008.From USO 2008 till AO 2010 Federer won 4 out of 6 disputed slams and played in all 6 finals. For the 2005-2010 period, we can say there was a Fedal duopoly.Djokodal have NOT been a duopoly since 2008. Ranking maybe but if you look at tier 1 titles won, it's been very much a big 4 show:
Fedal years: 2009 (4/4), 2010 (3/6), 2017 (5/4)
Djokodal years: 2008 (4/5), 2011 (8/2), 2013 (5/7), 2018 (4/4), 2019 (4/4)
DjokoFed years: 2012 (5/4)
Djokodal + Wawa: 2014 (6/2/2)
Djokoray years: 2015 (10/2), 2016 (6/5)
So that's 6 seasons dominated by Djoko/Nadal
4 seasons dominated by Fed/Nadal or Djoko/Fed
and 2 seasons dominated by Djoko/Murray
Fed remained a part of the equation even as late as 2017 despite his age.
There has hardly been a Djokodal duopoly. 2019 is only the 4th year in which they finish in the top 2.This.Of course there was no such thing as Djokodal duopoly as soon as 2008.From USO 2008 till AO 2010 Federer won 4 out of 6 disputed slams and played in all 6 finals. For the 2005-2010 period, we can say there was a Fedal duopoly.
Mix in some Murray and Wawrinka in that time frame as well.Bump post. Since 2008, Djokodal have:
Finished number one 10/12 seasons (5 apiece)
11 combined 2+ slams seasons (5 apiece)
32 slams won out of 48 played (16 apiece) - Federer is the next closest at 8 (half of both their totals)
58 masters won out of 108 played (32 for Nole, 26 for Nadal)
Won the last 7 majors from 2018 French Open-2019 US Open (4 for Nole, 3 for Nadal); won 9 out of the last 11 majors between 2017 French Open-2019 US Open
Won 9 consecutive majors from 2010 French Open-2012 French Open (5 for Nadal, 4 for Nole); won 12 out of 15 majors between 2010 French Open-2013 US Open
Won 9 consecutive Masters from 2013 Monte-Carlo-2014 Miami (5 for Nole, 4 for Nadal); won 23 out of 32 masters between 2011 Indian Wells-2014 Rome
Met in 4 consecutive major finals between 2011 Wimbledon-2012 French Open (3-1 Djokovic)
Played a classic five setter at AO, RG and WI, along with the USO finals trilogy circa 2010-2013
Met in all four slam finals, along with 8/9 Masters, WTFs, Olympics, Davis Cups and even 500 events
Participated in 38 GS finals out of 48 played; 41 out of the last 51 if we stretch it back to the '07 French
At least one of them finished in the top 2 every year (Djokodal finished as the top 2 in 2011, 2013, 2018 and 2019)
Both finished in the top 3 in 9/12 years (2015/16 due to Nadal's bad form/wrist injury and 2017 due to Novak's elbow injury)
Other notable achievements: Both completed career slams (and have a chance at achieving the DCGS); Djokovic won the Nole Slam and won 5 WTFs; Nadal won La Decima at the French and 2 OLY gold medals (one in singles and one in doubles)
As for H2H, Nole has dominated it since around 2014 (like he's done with like all his peers besides Stan at majors), but their matches between 2007-2013 were classics.
What a dominant decade plus of tennis these two (and Federer to a slightly lesser extent in this period) have put on.
Wow. This is one salty post. As for Tsitsipas he will never win a Major.
And let's not bother mentioning that these guys all won 8 slams in their entire career: Lendl, Connors and Agassi.Federer won 8 slams in an era that wasn't even his. Wow.

Maybe time to update this?
This is still true though.TBH Nadal is Djokovic's biggest rival. War is never over with Rafa. We can make peace with Roger, not Rafa.

Roger Federer 18-03-2019 2
So Djokovic has won more slams than the entire tour combined, both active and retired players, since the start of 2018? Incredible scenes.
Both have been each other's biggest rivals. Although for Nadal Roger seems to have a higher respect because Nadal played him as a kid.
Fedal was a true dynasty from 2005-2010 in a sense that they were always the world's two best players but from 2008-2022, two guys won an insane amount of titles at over double the rate of anyone else I think that's what this post is getting atThere has hardly been a Djokodal duopoly. 2019 is only the 4th year in which they finish in the top 2.
Fedal finished 6 years in a row in the top 2 and again in 2017. That's 7 years.
Federer only winning 2 slams between 2010-2016 cost him the GOAT title. For a seven-year stretch, he won less majors than Wawrinka and Murray (and Fed himself from 2017-2018). If we go from Feb 2010-Dec 2016, he won the same amount of majors as Marin CilicFederer never ended a year as no.1 since 2010, despite being highly competitve. This hurts his legacy.
