Djokovic needs a ranking drop to win more

CrunchJann

Semi-Pro
Lower seed = facing Sinner/Alcaraz in the QF instead of the SF/Finals.

He avoids the brutal back-to-back matches against the sinncaraz at the very end of the tournament. Taking out the final boss with fresh legs in the QF might be the only way to secure another Slam at this stage.

Here is the path:
Skip Miami (2025 runnerup): Drop 650 points.
Early exit at Roland Garros: Shed the SF points.
Result: He arrives at Wimbledon ranked #5-#8. As a 5-8 seed, he meets Sinner or Alcaraz in the Quarterfinals with fresher legs. At 39, he can beat one of them early. He cannot beat them back-to-back in the Semis and Final.
A lower ranking might be his only tactical advantage left.

He’s done winning.
i dont think now he would get by Musetti Shelton or Zverev moving forward . I know he beat Sinner but that was a freak result. Sinner had 19 BP's and only won 2, and the fact Musetti was challenging most Novak service games suggests to me this year will be a rapid fall down the rankings.

Guy is 38 he has nothing to prove obviously, just cannot understand his fans still being so unrealistic with expectations. As you say, is over for him now.

even better if he faces them in the first round and then he has 5 matches to recover

He's not going to get another opportunity like the AO - he got a W/O, a retirement, played the perfect match against SInner where it all clicked and had the perfect start in the final. It all lined up and he still couldn't do it, it's not a jab at him too, the fact that he's still in the conversation at nearly 39 is insane.

He gets a longer match especially before facing Sinner/Alcaraz - he's cooked.
Plays anything below his best against Sinner/Alcaraz - he's cooked.
Both Sinner and Alcaraz reach the SF/F and play to their level - he's cooked.

Also I think Sinner is going to lay a beatdown on Djokovic next time they play, he will never forgive/forget that AO loss.

The only place he’s in the conversation is at an Eggbot convention.
The odds of Djokovic winning the AO after the first set in the final was around 1,7-1,8, so he was the favorite at some point. It's crazy to rule him out completely, he's done this too many times.

Yeah he really had that AO dressed up, and on a platter with dipping sauces on the side. It’s not going to get any better than that.

By having to go through the two most dominant forces in tennis today back to back and who won the last 8 slams between them? Hardly served on a platter.

But I do agree he was very fortunate to even get to the semis with fresh legs, that won't happen again.
