Yeah, chances are he'll be fine. Hopefully he is keeping himself isolated and following actual medical advice instead of new-age quackery
I get what you are saying. but that sounds like Hope than reality. RAFA and other young guns like Thiem, Tsisipas will all be training and playing matches to get tough and will be Hungry like the WereWolves. and Novak will be relatively weak from recovery and not match tough.
Reality is Novak will be lucky if he reaches 2nd week of either slam this year.

The virus will have ZERO effect on someone like Novak, who is supremely fit and mentally strong. He would probably be asymptomatic. Even if he has symptoms there is literally a 99.999% chance of him not having anything worse than a regular hangover.
He should be back on court soon and back to winning slams and breaking records.
As young and fit as he is, the odds are definitely in his favor that it won't be very severe, but for now we just can't know for sure. Players' careers have ended because of mono (Soderling, Ancic), and COVID has the potential to be much worse. Hopefully all the players currently infected have mild or no symptoms and can get back to training in just a couple weeks' time.

Hope he is fine obviously and gets over it quickly but he is not looking good during Corona crisis. Kinda like boris Johnson when he got it.
BoJo, at least right after he recovered, sounded like Scrooge after he was visited by the Ghosts of Christmas, singing praises of the NHS and all.

If Novak can shed his hippy nonsense after this, then at least something positive will come out of it

Also on another note, please do NOT ignore the COVID 19.

I got this in early March. It's been nearly 4 months now I still have a lingering cough and shortness of breath. It weakened my immunity for a while and I got exposed to some other viruses too as a result (herpes Zoster etc). It has definitely impacted my work and general life and obviously fitness. I lost tons of weight and muscle mass and it was a terrible few weeks when I was suffering.

Again I'm not a pro tennis player, but I'm in my 30s and decently fit.

So please be careful and social distance for your sake and for others.

Hopefully when the dust settles we'll here more about how Novak allowed this situation to escalate. Ivanisevic always seemed like a bad idea and it wouldn't surprise me if he was the one pushing it very hard all the way. As such, I'm expecting Ivanisevic to exit stage left pretty soon.

Vajda needs to lock this thing down again before Novak goes (even further) back off the rails. Novak needs to be much more careful with his hires, especially these former pros in mentoring roles. Turns out Boris wasn't quite such a disaster after all.

There is hope..Dybala started playing for Juventus..He was infected around 2 months ago...

But will he take standard 2 month recovery?? Not sure...His US Open is gone??

How much will it affect his health?

Kyrios takes shots at novak. will this endanger his chances of winning a major ?
I think this Adrian fiasco should not affect the USO. How the pandemic evolves in the US, however, should, since things are not looking good here.

Tennis can be played safely. The problem Novak didn't admit is that they organized the tour and related events with chips on their shoulder, defiantly against criticism from all over the world. They went out of their way to challenge the virus. The thing is, if you don't respect science, you are more likely to become a subject of science, or let's be frank, a statistic.

I don't have a problem if Novak's career ends right here and now. There will always be players to win future GS. But I hope no player puts thousands of people in harm's way again.

exactly my opinion .
You can't be too egotistical and put lives in threat ,and ignore opinions of scientists and tennis community just like that .
If his career ends right now , it would be tragic but he asked for it .

If you are GOAT candidate ,then you need to protect yourself better . A Goat candidate risking his health and being so careless is shocking to me to be honest .

If I was world no. 250 in ATP rankings , still I would never take such high risk and would be more careful . Goat candidate being careless about his health , I still can't believe it .

Guys, I’ve had a great time watching Djokovic matches with you all. I really do think the Djokovic fans are generally the best fans on TTW. I also still think that Djokovic is objectively the “best” tennis player of all time with a decent shot to become the GOAT if he can hold up for 2-3 more years.

But I cannot root for someone who is anti-vax. It’s really that simple. There is a depressing anti-intellectual movement going on these days and anti-vaxxers are very much part of it. I can’t give Djokovic a pass just because I like his tennis.

Short of a 180 from Djokovic on some of the stupidity he’s thrown out recently, I’m out. I don’t blame anyone who disagrees with me and stays a Djokovic fan - in the end we’re almost all here because we love the tennis not because of a guy’s off court activities or goofy science views. But for me it’s a bridge too far atm.

Later friends.

You have your beliefs, and I applaud you for standing by them. These players we choose to be "fans" of are a their own person with their own beliefs. We must continue to do the same for ourselves, as these players are not our friends or family. Some may overlook the things that these players do since they are simply tennis players and that is why we like them. That is fine too, but glad to see you not let your fandom win over the beliefs you have.

If Fed ever does something that I can not stand by, I hope I will have the mental fortitude to not overlook my beliefs if it is something I strongly believe in. After all, we are tennis fans first in most cases, and the reasons we adore one player over another is not just their tennis, but their personalities and beliefs as well (for me at least).

Hope to see you stick around the forum though... Anakin.

Sheesh, vaccination should be totally personal choice and one should have freedom of speech to express his views. He's not really committing a crime against humanity. Certainly nothing to do with tennis... But do what you need to do - freedom of association...

Yeah, I do think it was a bad idea posting that in the Djokovic News thread.

Hmmm why? I actually have no issue with Djokers stance in this case. Just trying to be friendly to a fellow poster. He made a decision and I respect it even if I don't agree with it.

No war starting here. In fact, if you should know, I question vaccinations as well, so I applaud Djoker for speaking out on this.

Why does being nice to posters always have to have some secret agenda with you people?

I totally enjoy watching Djokovic play. He's not my favorite player, but very close. I'm sorry he caught the virus, and I hope he escapes unharmed.

Unfortunately there is some evidence emerging that even cases that are labeled 'asymptomatic', there can be hidden lung damage. Granted this report comes from a group of older people, but 'lung abnormalities' in about 50% of people showing no outward symptoms is nothing a professional athlete would want, especially a tennis player who depends on being fit.

??? Vaccine lobby? Covid 19 negatively affecting peoples' lungs has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with vaccines. And there currently is no vaccine for Covid and probably won't be for at least another year.

I'm old enough to remember people with polio. Kids in iron lungs and people permanently having to use crutches until there were effective vaccines. I remember getting small pox vaccinations because that horrible disease still existed in the world. And measles had been tamed before ill-informed anti-vaxxers came along....

Well, if it makes you feel any better the quote about vaccine was taken out of context during a live chat with Serbian players (in Serbain of course) and it was in relation to the covid vaccine (which not being mandatory isn't such an unpopular opinion, as it is not the flu vaccine), though even we go with the flu version, he's more pro-choice than a full anti-vax. Djokovic has many different views on important life matters than I do and it's probable than we share some as well. I care more about the thinking process behind the answer than the answer itself, but sadly the vast majority doesn't. We have enough "I f***in love science" high iq rick and morty fans who only repeat thoughts of others, barely having any of their own. Djokovic seems to be very open minded based on constant changes he's been making based on his comments and actions, so I think you could at least open up a dialogue with him, which is a good start already. I respect how he acknowlegded he isn't vegan, going with how he doesn't like labels and prefers to go with plant-based term if anything. Did he struck me as particularly intelligent? Not really, but better than average. There are many forms of intelligence and it's incredibly hard to define, often incorrectly mixed together by people. One could argue that for an athlete (though that could apply to many) maximalizing his utility in his field by improving physical and mental strength and specific skills from the sports is the smartest thing he/she can do. Then comes the balance between stoicism and hedonism that you have to assess for each person and so on. The more I get into detail however the higher risk of getting this thread deleted, so I guess I'll just say goodbye and wish you another happy landing.

Shall we call Novak, and his lovely wife for that matter, open-mindedly close-minded? Or, how to put this diplomatically, going after alternative for alternative's sake?

We don't have to call them anything. Djokovic views are all over the place, so it's impossible to pin them down to one place. And he usually goes for alternative after the usual one doesn't work out.

Novak and Jelena don't feel any symptoms and are waiting for the second test

Source:

Translate:
The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena are feeling well and have no symptoms of coronavirus.

The two of them follow all the doctor's recommendations, they are well and do not feel any symptoms. They will comply with everything that is expected of them during the recovery period.

The second test will be done when the doctors say it is necessary. It is assumed that it will be on July 7, two weeks after it was determined that they were infected.

We remind you that the Djokovic couple was infected during the Adria Tour. Novak immediately apologized to everyone who was harmed by the tournament.

Djokovic would be fine. You need to open your eyes whats going on in the world. I know its hard for americans to use rational thinking, because everything is written for them with rules what to do and not to do. Im not anti vaxer, ill vaccinate my kids with some ilness but ill never vaccinate myself for covid-19.

Call me anti vax too if you want, but if covid-19 vaccine gets created in less than 2 years then I will find it extremely suspicious. Djokovic's thoughts on it are similar I think.

Novak opens up: Malicious critics, agenda and witch hunting

Novak Djokovic, who did the first training after his coronavirus tests and revealed his future plans, made short addressing to the public and revealed future plans.

Djokovic trained on his courts with Viktor Troicki.

The world number one has been criticized by a lot of world media by some time now.

"Recently I only see critics, many malicious. Obviously there is something more than that critic, like there is an agenda, like witch hunting. Someone has to fall, some individual, some big name has to be the main culprit for everything", said Djokovic.

He also shortly commented on his participation plans at the upcoming tournaments.

"I still don't know if I will play at the US Open. Washington I definitely won't play, Cincinnati is in my plan. Participation at Roland Garros is definite at the moment, Madrid and Rome are also planned. The new rankings system is fair", added Novak.

How many sets has Djokovic taken from Rafa in their last 3 clay meetings? Only ONE set, and Rafa won that match 60 46 61!
Seems like a waste of energy for Djokovic to focus on the clay season.....when he's clearly not on Rafa's level.

I have a feeling all this negativity created around him is firing him up. He is gonna step on the court to prove a point. We know how things turn out when he has that mindset ;)

Here's what he said in context:

"My intention was pure, I wanted from the bottom of my heart to organize a charity tournament and help TSS and regional federations and regional players because I feel the need as the world's leading tennis player to do something like that if I had the opportunity. We followed all regulations and laws. We cannot be blamed for violating any regulations, everything was recommended. We were in daily contact with the Government of Serbia," said Djokovic, adding that everyone was offered a mask, gloves and disinfectant.

"Could some things have looked different? Probably yes, but we tried to do the best we could at the time. Lessons should be learned from that, not only from the Adria tour, but also from the exhibition in Atlanta and to establish what is the best for the next step, for us collectively as tennis ".

Novak was not spared the criticism that came from the western media, fellow tennis players, even people who have nothing to do with sports ...

"Lately, I've only seen criticism, very malicious. Obviously there is something more than that criticism, as if there is an agenda, as if it's a witch hunt. Someone has to fall, some person, some big name to be the main culprit for everything " , said Djokovic and said:

"I leave it to others to assess whether it is correct and humane. In my opinion it is not, my position is that we have to learn from all this and adapt as we go."

Djokovic also said that the new ATP scoring system , which many interpreted as negative for him, is actually "the best option at the moment", and that he has not yet made a decision on participating in the US Open, about which there is real uncertainty, since criticized this type of tournament.

The peanut gallery has cherry picked the "agenda/witch hunt" part of the interview to continue bashing him

It's a disgusting article, like most of journalism nowadays :(
They've placed the words of boycotting the USO in his mouth, which he actually never said.
Also, they are implying that he somehow took a shot at Kyrgios, which is not true. If anything, Nole always ignored his blabbering.
