Novak out of Canada.
At this point in his career, another superfluous Canadian Chp. wouldn't make much sense with the wear and tear of going to Tokyo! He proved he can short-hand it after winning Wimbledon with little prep after taking his 2nd FO! As long as he doesn't get injured or have a C-19 relapse, he s/b able perform admirably in NY next month! :sneaky:

Let's assume Djokovic will take part in the olympic final next Sunday.
Then he has been playing 32 professional matches over 83 days span (between May 11th and August 1st) including 20 must-win matches.

Some extended rest period is definitely needed before the US Open (week 35 and 36).

Novak Djokovic first pointed out that he has two important goals - to focus on each match individually and to keep a smile on his face despite the incredible pressure he feels.

"I cry a lot, only you don't see it," the best tennis player in the world revealed.

He added the following:

"The Olympics, representing my country at them, it always raises expectations, the pressure grows, as does my emotional 'involvement.' In fact, all tennis players, all athletes, can agree with that."

Asked why this is so, he says:

"It's just a different type of energy. When you come to the Olympics and represent your country, it's not like when you go to another tournament. After all, the Olympics are (only) every fourth year, and we have four grand slams in tennis and many tournaments per season, so we can say that we are really happy to have so many opportunities (for success and joy). But the Games are every four years. That's why the introduction to them is very important. And, of course, if you lose, then you feel "It's as if your whole world is collapsing at that moment. However, the next day you move on. It's a sport. I hope to keep laughing and in a week, we'll see," Nole concluded.

Hope it doesn't impact his performance and rather motivates him. He definitely can win the gold

I must say tennis in the Olympics sounds like a joke. The draw for mixed doubles is decided when, like during breakfast on the day of matches?
I even posted in this thread 2 days back the same question. There was no news about the draw or anything. Mixed doubles is a joke.
