And the red glasses. Looks as if he's going to launch a rap career in the early '90.
There was a popular hip hop line in the 90s called "Cross Colours" that had a lot of bright colors. I had a green jean jacket in that color Novak is wearing, lol. That look is definitely a throwback.

Shanghai is going to show to me about Djokovic's mindset. It's been a while now since he won the Olympics, he's had time to get over the honeymoon phase and get back down to Earth. His intent here will tell me what I need to know about his future, and how much he still really wants it.

Novak holds the title record in Shanghai. Go Novak!

Yes, but there is a little asterisk in a sense, that Murray has won Madrid before it moved to Shanghai, so in addition to his 3 titles in Shanghai he also has 1 in Madrid, which is the same masters slot, so in that regard they are tied. As individual venue, yes Novak leads with 4 titles, but the whole "masters slot" thing makes it a little more complicated than that, 5th title would fix that! here's hoping *fingers crossed*...For that same reason Federer actually leads Madrids masters tally with 6, because 4 of his 6 titles have been won in Hamburg, which then moved to Madrid (clay) both of which are played on the same slot, this makes him leader with 6 titles instead of Nadal, who has won 5 (1 in hamburg and the rest of them in Madrid on clay)...Gosh tennis can be so complicated at times and it's irritating little details like this that makes it so! I wish things were much more simple when it comes to events of 1000 level and lesser...

Good point. Didn't know Murray had done so well in Shanghai. Could've been worse had Novak not "stolen" a title from him after facing multiple Championship points. Was it in 2015?

I don't remember when exactly, but i remember the flow and dynamics of that match really well! It's in most people's Novak related highlight when it comes to comebacks from match points now...one of those 40-15 moments outside of slams...

Upd. Well guess it's 2012 then...

What do you mean China Goat? He is Goat everywhere.. Whose side you are truly on? Common, be honest. Just a Big 3 worshipper or a true Novak fan?

I reckon not much, unfortunately...

If he is content with his career and doesn't want to fight for big trophies any more, then I honestly don't blame him. He has given everything to this sport, and is being seen by most now as the greatest of all time. It had to end at some point for him, even though I feel he has the ability to be highly competitive for a few seasons if he picks and chooses when to peak.

I'd say Federer is, considering the speed of the courts at Shanghai especially, he was virtually unplayable there at times.

We'll unfortunately have to give Thirderer this one my friends

Six titles in Beijing, 4 in Shanghai, plus won the TMC in 2008 - That is 11 titles - He is the most decorated champion China has ever seen.

Ultimately it is about winning, not who plays what level. Lets not forget, Federer was at the mercy of his opponent in 2014 in the very first round, the net basically saved him.

I have to disagree there. It's like a 100m sprinter winning 10 gold medals at the Olympics, but another person only winning one but setting the world record/ becoming the fastest man alive despite having significantly less medals. People will remember the latter, not the person with the medals

I know you are a Federer fan, I'm not going to discuss this any further with you in this news thread. That is not what this thread is for, it breaks the rules of this thread. I disagree with you, if you want to talk further, as a Federer fan, please go ahead and make your own thread. No further replies from me on it here.

I'm definitely not a Thirderer fan. I just like to be objective in these things

If Djokovic loses early in Shanghai , I think he will skip Paris and then this will objectively be the second worst year since 2006.
Above 2017 but even 09/10 were much better.
