I would say whatever makes him happy. Man is already living tennis legend.
On the other side ,5 days after Stefan was born, he played Paris Masters and started his second domination on tour which lasted until RG16.
So we should wait 9 months, then expect another 4 in a row, eh?

:D Yeah, of course I want whatever Djok feels would make him happy. But then, it'll always be a sad day when an ATG leaves the game.

Difficult draw for Djokovic in Acapulco

Novak Djokovic will play against Martin Klizan in the first round of 500 event in Acapulco.

The world number 2 got a very tough draw because on the road to the potential final he could face Juan Martin del Potro, Nick Kyrgios, Bernard Tomic, Dominic Thiem/David Goffin.

In the other side of the draw the main favorite is Novak's great rival Rafael Nadal, followed by Marin Cilic.

Djokovic will play in the Mexican resort for the first time. Unlike in previous years when he was playing Dubai, in 2017 he chose Acapulco in order to acclimatize more easily for the American continent prior to the Masters in Indian Wells and Miami.

Novak will play Klizan for the third time, and he won both previous meetings, in Miami and Shanghai 2015. The match is scheduled for Tuesday not before 11 pm, mid and east Europe time.

The defending champion is Dominic Thiem, while the total prize money for the tournament is 1,6 million dollars.

Novak: I worked a lot, I think I am ready

The world number 2 Novak Djokovic arrived in Acapulco where he will start his appearance on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Djokovic said that he used the break after the Australian Open for work and expressed the expectations that he will play at a high level.

"I lost early in Australia, played one match in the Davis Cup, got some rest and spent time with family. In the past I played Dubai before Indian Wells, now I decided to come here. I am in Mexico for the first time, the reception is incredible, people came to training, overall, it's great to be here"

He says he is surprised by the reception.

"I met a lot of Mexicans in the world, I know with how much passion they follow sport but I am surprised how much people love and respect tennis. I hope the week will be good, I am sorry for not coming a day or few earlier but I believe that I will be ready for the first match and that I will go far at the tournament"

Djokovic spoke calmly about the experience of his loss in Australia which happened a bit more than a month ago.

"For years I have had a lot of luck to be very successful in Australia, I won six titles there, this is the first time I lost in the 1st week. It's good that I had more time to rest and spend it with my family but I worked a lot in the last few weeks and I think I am ready to play well"

Even though Nadal and Federer are his big rivals, he says the Australian Open final delighted him.

"Like everyone who loves tennis, I am also happy for them being here again, they are tennis legends, they brought popularity to this sport and it's good for tennis that we saw them in a final again"

No more tickets - Djokovic got Acapulco up on their feet

Organizers of ATP tournament in Acapulco have informed that after Novak Djokovic's arrival, all tickets for the entire week have been sold.

The Serbian tennis player accepted the special invitation, and was welcomed in Mexico fittingly for one of the greatest in history.

Some ticket owners had additional profit from Novak's arrival because they resold the tickets for 180.000 pesos, more than 6000 euros.

In IW or Miami? Roger in Dubai and Nole in Acapulco! Hope Djokovic takes at least 1 after winning both Masters the last 3 seasons! Perfection can't last forever; proved with early round loss in his 2nd home "down under" at the AO! :p ;) - - - - - http://fiero4251.blogspot.com/2016/08/fan-page-novak-nole-djokovic.html - - - - -
True he is going to be spotty. Maybe we could see a deep FO run. But might not be until the US Open he gets to a final and has a chance to win another major.
Time will tell!

Can't believe how stupid he's being - I was hoping he'd rest up and not return until Madrid at the earliest. He'll never get back to full health at this rate. Sigh.

Maybe the injury was not as severe as first thought and he feels ready to play?
Even if that's the case I still feel he's making a mistake. He has a huge amount of points to defend in Madrid/Rome/RG and so IMO the more rest he affords himself the better it will be for him, not only during the clay season but also the rest of the year.

No points are given to DC.
We still don't know if he will play MC
It's seems that we can't have safe place at this forum without usual bs from other fans:rolleyes:

Well djokovic is still on the MC list
Nishikori & federer are the only top 10 players are not playing & there are rumours murray is not playing either
Well, he was on Miami entry list too. Why bother anyway?

Ah I see , he called Gilbert and Annacone directly and said to them he will play.

Also should have participate in humanitarian match with Dimitrov, Cilic, Fognini .

He probably seeing Federer and Nadal out there and is chomping at the bit to get in there with them.
Hemorrhaging points.
However he sucks right now and is prob trying to prematurely get back in to compete only to be knocked back out.
He needs to just stay out of the game for 6 months.
