Novak Djokovic, the defending champion at the Rolex Paris Masters, has reportedly decided that he will not be defending his title while his participation in the ATP Finals is also in doubt.
Although he played in the Six Kings Slam last weekend in Riyadh, including a final clash with Rafael Nadal, Djokovic has withdrawn from the defence of his title at the final Masters 1000 of the season, the Rolex Paris Masters, which begins next Monday, according to Serbian media outlet Sport Klub.

Article

Last year, Djokovic, the tournament's record winner, claimed his seventh title by beating Grigor Dimitrov in the final.

No particular reason has been given, but Sport Klub reports that the Serb, although in a strong position to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin, may not compete there either. He could also miss the ATP 250 tournament in Belgrade.

I will be amazed if he doesn't play in Belgrade! What else did that get back on the calendar for? The rest would not surprise me.

I think Novak body is at the end of his capabilities to win big titles. He will try to heal naturally but the operated knee is too slow for Carlos and Jannik.
Yes, that is what I saw this year, the speed was the big problem. He peaked at Olympics for one more time, but the rest of the matches he los0 =t the body struggling and speed was the big problem.

I think he really doesnt want to be beaten by Sinner again this year
A wise decision I guess! Maybe, if like we discussed if he doesn’t want a damaging H2H record against him he will avoid him until he sees an opportunity. Let’s see if that’s the master plan as well as looking after his body at an old age.

He made enough money in Riyadh.

"Before flying to Buenos Aires for Juan Martin del Potro‘s final dance at an exhibition showdown, the Serb chatted with ‘LA NACION’ for an exclusive feature and iterated his version of being a ‘around-the-clock’ father to his children in the literal sense. “It is important they see me as a father in the real sense of the word, as a father who is at home, with them, who follows the routine, the time to go to bed, to get up, take them to school, talk to them about life, play with them. That’s the person I want to be for them, not the father “Novak Djokovic” who is outside”. For those unaware, Djokovic has often credited his loved ones for always holding out faith in him."

When is this match against his big friend, Delpo?

Djokovic is the only human being who at 37 gets younger instead of continuing to age. Alcaraz and Sinner are the only human beings who at 21 and 23 years old respectively have already reached the maximum capabilities of their tennis. Mysteries of faith.

When we talk about Djokovic's future prospects, it is always taken for granted that next year he could dust off the Olympic version on some occasion, but coincidentally no one takes into consideration an alternative scenario which sees the Serbian having a performance collapse between 2024 and 2025 like that had between 2023 and 2024.

It's great to see Djokovic going back to normal. He was really acting out during Covid and being an international leader for the anti-vaxx/Covid denial movement really went to his head.

Fan of a player that actually tested for steroids (twice) makes doping allegations against a player that NEVER had a doping controversy.

Too funny...

I haven't really made any accusation relating to doping on Djokovic's part, in case I have made the accusation against those who try to convince themselves that he is immune to the passage of time.

Anyone who thinks that within a major Djokovic still has cartridges for Sinneraz will encounter unpleasant surprises.

Oh, you think Federer would have still be undefeated against Nadal in 2017 had he played....LMAO.

Yeah, right..Federer skipped clay season because of Nadal in 2017/18.. LOL

Don’t keep digging the grave .. bad counter example

Age gap in 2019 Wimbledon final:

Fed 37 v Djokovic 32 = 5 years.

Winner: Djokovic

Age gap in 2024 Olympics final:

Djokovic 37 v Carlos 21 = 16 years.

Winner: Djokovic

Chicken debate over, next thread! ;-)

At least he beat Sinneraz in 2024, gold medal in the history books.

Now let's wait and see what Sinneraz can do in 15 years time, when they 37 years old... cannot wait! :)

Oh is that why Nadal was saying that Federer wanted to play him on clay but didn't bother showing up to the clay season. LOL - Try again. Federer, especially in 2018 was perfectly healthy and chose to skip it again. He avoided Nadal on clay, try not being an ostrich. ;)

Federer was out for 6 months and had an actual knee surgery to end 2016. How is that remotely comparable to Novak who has played all 4 majors and Olympics this year ? It has to be because he doesn’t want to give Sinner and Alcaraz the confidence for next year majors . I cannot see that he is tired given the tight schedule he has played this year

Federer won AO, IW and Miami, don't feed me that nonsense he wasn't physically fine to continue playing. He avoided Nadal and kept his mental edge over him. You think Federer goes undefeated against Nadal in 2017 if he played Nadal on clay, the way he did in 2019 when they played in RG? LOL Cut the double standards, it would be one thing if Federer couldn't move at the start of 2017 season, dude wins FOUR five set matches and then the sunshine double and you are crying about a knee surgery that was impeding his play.....the delusion and the lengths people go to to defend their idol. Federer then got Nadal back on HC in Shanghai, no mental demons, proceeds to straight set him again....but yeah, Federer didn't wise up and pick and chose when to play and when to avoid. Get real. ;)

More seriously: not sure what to think what is best for the goat now, to continue to play or retire and ride away in the sunset with all his goat records firmly in place for at least another 10-15 years?

What will be the new motivation, something like a Rocky XVIII movie comeback just to try and defy all science?

Big two has really taken over, I hope someone like a Mensik or someone else can at least try and be a Murray/Stan like competition in next 10 years.

If Novak wants to go one season more, he really needs some new plans to keep up with the youngsters, and a coach to inspire him to another level, but who can do that, cannot think of anyone to take on the new adventure with him?

Fed took his losses on his sleeve and used to beat Djoker in BO3

Kind of odd to see Novak chicken out like this
Fed was braver. Djoko has had enough and trying the hide away approach and wait for last vulture opportunity. I can’t blame him after so much mileage on body and last few ugly results for him.

I trust in the process and plan djokovic has here. As long as he still able to play when he wants that is enough for me. I’d take just a Dubai or adelaide title for no100 now.

Fed was a beaver alright if not chicken

2017 and 2018 clay swings vanished almost like Thanos snapped them out of existence.

I still want him to win that 100th title bro and go from there. He can pick and choose the events he plays.

He got nothing to lose now. I’d prefer though him to hang around if he still physically can and has the motivation. Even 1 more big title or a few smaller ones is better for his legacy than stopping now. He can have lots of defeats but it makes no odds.

He might as well try add to his incredible legacy in anyway he can if he still wants to play. It difficult but nothing to lose now
