Djokovic reportedly opts out of Paris Masters, doubtful for ATP Finals

Looks even worse when you go prime for prime
03-12 Federer:
4 AO
1 RG
7 W
5 USO

17 slams

08-16 Djokovic
6 AO
1 RG
3 W
2 USO

Less dominant at his best slam. 3 + 2 at the premier big boy slams vs 7 + 5. Fewer HC slams. Djokovic really did make the most of the graveyard/inflation/tiktok era didn’t he?
Agree it looks much worse for the has-been goat... ;-)

Mini-goat: 03-22 = 20 GS in 19 years; 310 weeks the best player

Big goat: 08-23 = 24 GS in 15 years; 428 weeks the best player ... and not retired ... yet.

Debate over again for the .... 24th time!? lol

So you expect Rublev to win Belgrade or Metz?

Rublev isn't in the entry list of any of these 250 as far as I know. Unless he asks for a wildcard and wins the tournament, he will be behind Djokovic in the Race.

De Minaur and Dimitrov can still end up with more points if they both reach the final in Paris... highly unlikely scenario.

Big goat - 12 slams aged 18-29 then 12 slams aged 30-36. Greatest vultuerer and stat padder of all time.

He's going down as the greatest it seems in the eyes of most, but I don't think he is going to play Turin this year. The warrior in him might not be able to resist the fight, and he will right in the middle of it, but I do feel he has been on cruise control last couple of months and is probably looking forward more to the exho with Del Potro as far as getting back on a court is concerned. Last year was different, he was determined to break the record for the most YEC wins, he's got all the records now.

Novak Djokovic may have already closed his competitive 2024. According to rumors coming from Serbia, the 24-time Slam champion has decided not to participate in the next ATP Finals in Turin even if at the end of the Paris tournament Bercy was among the top eight of the Race to Turin.

Yes, nothing needed but to rest now, friendly match against Delpo. He got the BIG ONE he was chasing this year, now to focus on nr. 25 in 2025.

Tennis Channel said today he has already qualified. Looks doubtful right now that he will play though.
Interesting. It looks like Morgado has miscalculated. Ruud and de Minaur can pass Djokovic, but Rublev can only get to a maximum of 3870 points

Djokovic is indeed qualified

EDIT: The ATP introduced a new rule recently that allows players to substitute their worst M1000 result with a 250 or 500 level tournament. This would mean Rublev's maximum points if he wins Metz would put him just ahead of Djokovic.

Ruud can not surpass Djokovic with a SF, since the worst of his "best other 7" is a SF. He need a F to gain more points.

Rublev can not surpass Djokovic even with a W, since a W can only give him 250 points, only 150 more points than the worst of his current "best other 7"(which is also a SF with 100 points).

Djokovic is already qualified, but he will likely skip it.

Rublev can pass Djokovic with a win because of a recent rule change (since 2023) that allows players to replace their three worst results in mandatory tournaments with a 250 or 500 result.

This means Rublev can get to 3960 points with a win. The same thing applies to Ruud, who can get to 3945 points with a SF. This would put both of them ahead of Djokovic at 3910
