Djokovic says he's requested to play on the centre court for the Wimbledon QF

Should Djokovic be on the Centre Court in the QF?

  • Yes

  • No

  • Court 18 thanks

Exactly. He hasn't earned anything but a chance to continue his comeback. Maybe with a decent season under his belt, and if Fed and Nadal weren't in competition for the court, then maybe.
Nadal was put on Centre for every match in 2014 after second round and first exits in the two years prior. Did he "earn" anything?

But I expected nothing less from one of the most unabashed Djokovic haters on TT

Lame. I can't believe Wimbledon gave in to Novak's whining.

CC is for the most entertaining matches. If Novak doesn't like it he should try giving the crowds some better tennis to enjoy instead of thinking up stunts to pander to them.

Truthfully(and I'm far from a Djokovic fan), Nishikori-Djokovic seems more appetizing than Federer-Anderson. And for sure the most appetizing of all is Del Potro-Nadal so that should definitely be on CC out of the three IMO.

For people who said why should Novak have a request .
Federer accepted to have requested Australian Open Organisers to have Night match versus Struff.
Hence Djokovic and Monfils had to kill each other in day Heat .
Ofcourse Monfils Djokovic deserved night match Not Struff Vs Fed..

You got that wrong.

Djokovic requested that they play with Monfils during the day, because he knew that Monfils has problems with his conditioning, and was hoping to neutralise his athleticism in the heat.

8-)

Delpo/Nadal pretty much has to be on center because of the potential battle, but it's Novak's turn for sure to get the privilege.

I'm really enjoying Wimbledon now. If Delpo gets farther, against all odds, it's an amazing comeback story.

If Fed wins, #21. If Nadal wins, he wins again after 10 years, amazing.

If Novak wins, never my favorite, I will have immense pleasure at watching fanatics of the other top guys have a meltdown. And it would be another amazing comeback story.

If Roanic, Nishikori or Anderson win, I may have to kill myself. :D

Hope Kei beats him in straight sets, then he will look a total arrogant fool for demanding to be there.
A request is not a demand, and somehow who has won the event several times is hardly out of place asking to be on center court.

The arrogant fools are all in this forum, making very stupid predictions.

At RG, he stepped out there like he didn't have any belief which was very disappointing. He just went out there to lose basically. Most players don't think they have a chance when they step on the court against Rafa in a BO5 on clay either though. At the USO, he started out well against Rafa and then seemed to hit a brick wall. He did have two big wins before that, coming back to beat Thiem in 5 and beating Federer in 4 tough sets so maybe that had taken its toll. Hopefully he has enough in the tank to give us a match tomorrow but I never underestimate him in a big match.
Rafa changed tactics big time after the first set as well. His game plan was attack Delpos backhand as it wasn't what it had been but that didn't work. Then it was lights out. Rafa has a very tough match on his hands coming up.

Why even feel the need to make such a request that either Fed or Nadal gets bumped down to number one court for his sake, when Novak has done next to nothing the last couple of years?

I am not for such actions (be it from Djokovic, Federer, Nadal, or other player), because I think that the top players are already pampered enough.

Still, as it is a fact I prefer to look at it as a statement Novak wants to make, which is: "I am back on CC and everyone should take notice".

It is a sign that his confidence and hunger are returning, and I like the move, even if only for that.

Let's see, if he can back up his loud statement.

Pampered may be fair, but it is also fair that they all get pampered to the same degree. I keep pointing out, because I think it's fair, that although I have never been one of Novak's fan, he has been an amazing champion and should not be overlooked, taken for granted or denied the respect he deserves.

My favorite player to watch is Fed. Nadal has been a favorite for a long time, because of his fighting spirit. But this time, he he gets there, I will root for Djokovic. And I never thought that would happen.

The reason? Because I hate the way he has been treated by so many people in this forum, and I'd like to see them eat some serious crow!

Centre court will be nearly empty for the first match today, everybody will be at court one to where it will be spilling over. Who wants to watch 65% Novak vs a guy who has made just one slam final & lost as opposed to the King of Wimbledon against another top 10 seed?

Because he's doing something right now. That should be enough on top of where he was in the world from 2011 until the middle of 2016. He's earned it.

I think the Djokovic v Nishikori match is the more interesting one. Anderson tends not to make for an interesting match.

For sure it could be interesting if:

1. Djokovic's level falls, again.
2. Nishikori does not shatter.

Otherwise it will be one-sided, just longer than serve-bot matches.

50% change Kei doesn't finish the match.

He has made it no further than the other slam quarters he has made the last couple of seasons-how has he earned anything as opposed to the two guys who have won the last six slams with three between them each?

Because tennis history did not start after the middle of 2016, and his NCYGS is still recent.

Not only his fans but tennis itself has every reason in the world to hope he's about to make a comeback, otherwise Fedal is all there is, with not one younger player stepping up. You can say that he fell farther in the last couple years than Fedal, but it won't matter if he returns to the top.

I used to dread that idea, but now I'd enjoy watching his haters self-implode in rage. :D

Meh, let the complainer Whineovic get the scraps meaning he only got the slot because he had to publicly whine about it. It doesn't really matter. At the end of the day, all that matters is who wins the matches and is the last one standing.

Bit disappointed in Free to Air coverage. Thought centre court would be televised as it's nearly always the televised court except when a national is playing. But they devised to go with the potential third best match of the day Fed v Ando. So seems it doesn't matter who plays on what for coverage. Bit disappointing but seen worse Seen the entire CC AO literially leave to outer courts with some of the poor WTA match ups, whilst decent matches on outer.

If he makes it to the final Roger will make him pay badly for this impertinence.
Roger made him pays so bad in 2014 and 2015. I think Djoker needed to pay more money for hotel accommodations in London as he took a victory press tour. Sneaky Roger really hitting Djoker in the checkbook.
