Djokovic should train his stamina in the heat

I think any logical person who knows tennis wouldn't deny that if Djokovic had a chance to play in a night session he would have trashed Nishikori in an easy 3-4 sets. It's getting outrageous how many matches in the last 2 years that were on Djokovic's racquet he lost because of the heat, the worst were RG-13 and US-OPen-14 semis. Wimby-13 and RG-14 were also bad ones, but Djokovic wasn't fully rested and fit even before the match, so these ones aren't that bad.

Novak is simply not that good on fast hard courts as he is on slow ones.

He can string a few wins but it is a fact that there are better players than him.

He just didn't even compete in the 4th set and that stunk.

You're right, it's an another proof that the heat destroyed Djokovic, he was thinking the whole match how to lose as soon as possible.

When a player of Djokovic caliber wasn't successful at returning harmless Nishikori's serve you know that something was wrong with him.

Basically he needs to go on the court and practice more to improve his tennis on hard courts.

I think at this point hard work can be ruled out in Djokovic's case. He doesn't function well in hot, humid conditions and that's all there is to it.

I agree. If he got the later match he probably would have routined Nishikori pretty easy.

The heat no doubt affected him physically and as a result all the shots that would normally go in for him were being sprayed long or he wasn't getting to the shots he would normally get to under less extreme conditions

Tennis at the Slams are played in the summer months, so it often gets hot and humid. It's something all the pro players have to deal with.

It's really unfortunate that Nole lost RG 2013-14, Wimbledon 2013 and USOpen 2012 and 2014 due to weather conditions.

Novak Djokovic is the most unlucky player in history.

Your poor attempt of trying making fun out of Djokovic was truly unsuccessful. If you have tried start thinking why Djokovic is totally owning Nadal at clay Masters, but can't beat him even once at RG you would understand that a heat is reducing Djokovic's level and makes it unbearable for him to beat such a physical player as Nadal in best of 5 during such hot conditions, it's not that Nadal increases his level at RG as some narrow-minded have been claiming.

I think that has far more to to with Nadal and his record at RG in best-of-5 matches and not Djokovic.

Nole had his chance in 2013, in very hot conditions. He bummed it.

Heat bothers everyone, not just Novak.... And I don't think he can improve his game any further... the guy has reached robotic level of consistency...there's nothing beoynd that...

And there is no chance that even peak Novak would beat the current level Nishikori easily... that's nonsense

Current level Nishikori? Hishikori isn't doing anything special, he barely won against Raonic/Wawrinka and got a huge luck ticket to a final due to extreme heat that bothers Djokovic. If Cilic plays at the level of the last 2 matches he will murder Kei.

Disagree about RG 2013, but need to add AO 2009 to the list. I am sure if Novak played night QF match vs Roddick or if organizers closed the roof, like they should have, he would have won that tournament easily.
With that slam maybe he would have never hired double agent Todd Martin and would have never messed up his serve - i.e he could have start dominating earlier and won couple more slams in 2009/2010.

Well djokovic has been BARELY winning and (not to mention losing) against wawrinka for the last couple of years...

He wasn't making fun of Djokovic, he was making fun of you!

Of course its very unfair of the organisers to make poor Novak play in the daytime heat. He should be allowed permanent night sessions when its a bit cooler. This is tough on the other players having to play in the heat but, hey, who cares about them so long as Novak gets the best conditions to play his matches in!

ALL tennis players have to adapt their games to playing in different conditions. Nobody particularly enjoys having to play in daytime heat but if others have to do it, why should Djokovic be an exception? If he can't adapt to it, that's his problem I'm afraid.

It's either too hot or it's too windy....it seems, according to you, that the only time it is safe for Djokovic to play is at night!

Not Federer, nor Nadal - they always get the favorable schedules and never play on the heat more than one match per slam, while Novak even as #1 seed gets to play 3-4 at least. Also should not forget perks and "home court advantage" Murray gets at Wimbledon.
All we are asking is even playing field - i.e. please don't make draws and schedules so much more difficult for Novak than for other 3 top players. It is simply not even playing field.

then why was everybody congratulating him a few years back for outlasting
Nadal in the Miami heat?...I thought he was declared the Iron Man title after that..and the historic Oz final

How does someone who struggles in the heat win 4 AO's?

Sorry but I don't see much in this argument, given the above fact.

Nishikori beat him fair and square, he had a bad day, I don't think it was as down to heat, I'm sure he has lost just as many important matches in normal conditions, and won many more important matches in hot conditions.

Novak looked bored and rather be somewhere else in that match. I doubt whether the weather had anything to do with it. Burnout?
The guy is wealthy beyond forever and no longer as hungry for tennis?
