Would be a good idea. for his knees. Adidas needs to support their tennis line better especially with the "boost" technology.

Could be a result of Adidas changing the guard(s), or perhaps Lacoste not wanting him wearing a strong brand on the feet.

This For sure means the end of the B7 Novak Pro line.
Damn.My Favorite for the last 5 Years.
But Asics are awesome as well.

Weird, they're just about to release clay version of Novak's B7s. I've been waiting for a while for those and it would be a shame if we still got one colourway.

So your saying Asics is not a strong brand? Don't know about USA but in Australia Asics would be the top selling sports shoe brand, Adidas would not even be close. Running, Football, Netball, Court, Gym. They are huge in Japan also.

Adidas is probably ahead of ASICS overall even in Australia, but it is certainly one of the strongest brands.

FYI, adidas is number one on the Japanese market.
Now, having said that: I would truly support Nole moving to asics. Personally I still can't forgive the adidas marketing team that dropped Novak in order to get the cash to sign Murray.

I acknowledge my statement was open to interpretation.
What I ment was: Adidas is the second strongest sports equipment brand, and thus stronger than Asics (a top ten brand). Secondly, Lacoste would prob be more positive towards Novak wearing a shoe-focused sports brand like Asics, rather than a full-equipment superbrand, as they're focused more towards clothes than shoes (Lacoste i.e.).

The kid is eight and for his age, a beautiful hitter, no doubt. Look at those legs move. Great backhand too. Hope he goes far, usually the young phenoms wane out due to pressure before they can reach their potential.

Good read here too:

What is that kid hitting with? Maybe I should switch to that... who am I kidding, I would have to lose 150 lbs to have footwork like that.

Your original statement made perfect sense imo.

There is no market where Asics is anywhere close to competing with Adidas, so I agree Lacoste would most likely feel more comfortable with Novak playing in a shoe like Asics with a less distracting brand and silhouette and less of a direct competitor in several of Lacoste's key markets. I'm always interested in these apparel brands and how they work out this sponsorship situation when they can't offer their sponsored player suitable hard goods in their branding to go with their clothing.

Mihailos father was interviewed and was quoted saying he was worried about the pressure of tennis on young kids... and didn't want him to do Tennis and would have preferred he chose a team sport. So on the advice of Novak and other professions Mihailo won't be playing competition until 10 years old minimum. I think his family has the perfect mindset.

I think they're GR7 shoes, but that aside...completely blown by the kid's level of tennis. If he does decide to play in the tour...jeezaloo :O

Clearly his last deal with Adidas is done (or close to the end) so now he’s wearing other brands try to get a new deal whatever with adidas or other brands. Same thing happened to Rafa last year about his deal with Babolat. He tried Head MXG rackets and Yonex rackets in training but at the end he extended his contract with Babolat

I was telling someone the other day that most of the 13+ year olds at my club would embarrass me, this 8 year old would as well. I wonder what the Big 4 looked like at that age.

There's a video around here of Shapavolov hitting when he was 8 or 9. Even at that age he hit a beautiful 1-hander. Probably would have beaten 90% of the TT members back then.

I know it's being a bit d@uche, but imo Shapovalov doesn't have a beautiful obhb. He has en effective one, but his finish is far from graceful and just like Thiem, there's often a bit of cross-chest action going on.

The gold standard in today's game is of course Fed, closely followed by Gasquet and Wawrinka.

no way he will change shoes which he has played for over 10 years (Adidas CC genius) - not worth getting injured

He's been off the tour for a number of months so Asics has had plenty of time to fine tune the shoes to his needs.

Big loss to Adidas if true.
Djokovic has had quite a few gear suppliers

That's true only for his apparel (that is much easier to replace!) That's another story when it comes to footwear, where he was pretty consistent wearing his beloved Barricade. Now, I am truly confident that asics is capable of providing him with the shoe that he needs.

As if Asics is not a Huge shoe company that is acknowledged for its anti impact gels and beeing at the vanguard doing researches on technology for dampening impact...

Not trying to compare the size of the brands, but if there is something that Asics knows how to do is Anti Impact Sport shoes... And they got it right in their tennis line (inspite of the durability issues). If they are willing to pay more than Adidas, there is no loss at all, in my point of view.

Yeh I gotta agree with you there. Inspite of the gear changes from Adidas,Sergio T, etc he has kept with his Adidas.
As a barricade fan myself I find Asics a great shoe but certainly not as durable.

You know nothing - its not about dampening (which sucks IMO on their gel) - it is about not rolling your ankle on a side slide

wot? I haven't worn barricades, but I've worn Vapors, CBs, LBs, SS3, GR6 and ubersonics. The GR6 is by far the most solid and stable shoe I've used. I would have understood a criticism about rolling if it was the CB 4.3, which imo is a great shoe but a little too high, but on the GR? That's just crazy talk.

Rolling could def be a concern if you are used to years of a certain shoe like Novak is. Especially how much he contorts his body on gets. I doubt he will switch unless Asics offers serious bank.

I hope he does though as I despise Adidas and asics goes great with lacoste.
