Djokovic signs with Asics?

Rolling could def be a concern if you are used to years of a certain shoe like Novak is. Especially how much he contorts his body on gets. I doubt he will switch unless Asics offers serious bank.

I hope he does though as I despise Adidas and asics goes great with lacoste.

Ok, I can see that. Just wanted to point out the GR6's are exceptionally stable tennis shoes ime.
Sorry to hear you don't like adidas; I love my ubersonics ;-)

I love adidas and yet I'm happy if he's going to asics. Why? As I mentioned before: there are some very well paid guys at adidas who chose Murray over Nole.

Adidas should have let Novak go. He would have been worth a lot of money to them and they've never had a mega star that they could really push.

Yes, Zverev is an adi guy now (he used to be with nike) and has a really nice potential ahead of him. Do you think he'll be able to make history? For example: achieve something that didn't happen in 40 years, like Nole did when he won 4 GS in a row.

Adidas never had a mega star? Lendl, Edberg, and Graf weren't mega stars? Cmon now... I could go on with Laver, Stan Smith, but you get the point.

That was last century, though. Uniqlo were more visible than the 3 stripes in the recent years!

If you're thinking ATP only, you could argue the case, but if you take Nike out of the equation, you'll notice that a) Adidas is far, far behind Nike, but 2) holds a strong #2 position with Zverev (#4), Thiem (#5), Tsonga (crowd favorite) and Pouille (potential).

If we take WTA into consideration, Adidas reduces the gap and strengthens the #2 position.

You are right, I am considering only the ATP as this thread is about Djokovic. Also, we were talking about "mega stars" that win GS, the way Lendl and Edberg used to do.

Murray also stayed with trusty Barricades under UA paintjob

Not for nothing Nole's shoes were almost always blue or blue with some red. Tho some preferred his barricade over what the current model is it wont be a huge loss. And Adidas can also keep releasing the B7 just as a retro of sorts.

As far as the Asics connection I have worn both brands and while they go about it differently I like them both. From there speed lines to the stability durability line (Speed Solution / Ubersonic , Barricade / Resolution).

I guess he is with adidas

Agreed, with Nole gone to asics, adidas can't sell any product with his name on it. I'll keep an eye for some good deals on the Novak Pro as it's gonna hit the clearance sections soon.

Well this is pretty weird considering some sites (TWE included) started selling "AO" Novak pros claiming he'll be wearing them. He's also wearing adidas in his new video on fb.

Might still be under contract till Jan 1st or something.

It's a good shoe? I've never worn them. I'm mainly in Yonex these days but I do notice a lot of people mentioning this shoe recently.

The kid is eight and for his age, a beautiful hitter, no doubt. Look at those legs move. Great backhand too. Hope he goes far, usually the young phenoms wane out due to pressure before they can reach their potential.

Good read here too:

That's certainly beautiful strokes. Thanks for posting the link. It sounds and looks like he's hitting with one of the kids low compression balls by the sound - I don't think it was just because he's playing indoor.

Very impressive. Wish him the best.

Gel Resolution has excellent stability for all surfaces
Indeed. I have never heard anyone complain about stability issues from the GRs.

The Barricade Pro may in fact be more stable... but its less comfy for it. the Asics strike such a good balance its hard to argue with it

Love the Resolutions, and they are my co favorite along with Vapors, but could you imagine Resolutions with Boost? Gel is great, but boost is phenomenal.

To be honest... I have always been fine with Gel. If adding a new thing like BOOST jacks the price up 40 bucks I'll pass.

They *could* add their Fly Lite foam... but look at the price of those Court FFs. Just not worth it until massive sales... but in that same sale a person can grab a pair of Resos for 80 bucks... too good of a deal

I don't think I'd enjoy boost in my GR6s. I have a pair of adidas running shoes with boost, Supernova ST, and whilst they're really nice, I find the boost to be a bit on the soft, squishy side. For running shoes, I prefer my Nike Structures, which are firmer and feel more stable (even thought the adidas are super stable, as seen when the running sequence is filmed).

For a firmer feel with Boost get the Bostons.

;)

This just showed up on the adidas webstore. Two ways to read this: he's staying, or more likely, they're pushing out the clay shoe early. They're not selling any other clay shoe model* ...

* edit: they're also selling a barricade and barricade club clay model. http://www.adidas.no/menn-tennis-sko

If he's leaving for Asics they might be trying to move it before anyone knows.
