Djokovic speaks from Belgrade: “In 2025 I will be 100% focused on tennis. I will play the first week of the year."

“Tennis is always my focus!” declares Nole, “I intend to go full throttle in the off-season, we will go for another big race next year. I just need to recharge my batteries, rest a bit after an exhausting year."

“The grand slams are my goal, but I've said it a million times, I'd also like to play in the Davis Cup again, we'll see what happens.”

“I intend to play the first week of the year, but I don't know where yet. Obviously, then there's the Australian Open."

And as if he were making it clear that in this 2024, unconsciously or not, he had slowed down a bit after the binge of 2023.

Go Djoker, win that 25th major (so we don't have to keep hearing about Margaret Court)
Let's see if he can win 5 more titles to get 104 and surpass Federer's 103, getting to 110 to surpass Connors 109 will be a huge stretch though

Good news for either Brisbane or Hong Kong then in the 1st week of 2025.

United Cup draw is already out and Serbia isn't there.

100 Adelaide/Brisbane/Auckland
101 AO
102 Indian Wels
103 Rome
104 Queens
105 Wimbledon
106 Cincinnati
107 US Open
108 Belgrade open
109 Turin

If I had to guess Novak will target Wimbledon for his 25 major. On hard courts and clay the knee is to slow vs Janik and Carlos.

I think he could genuinely take Wimbledon 25. This year it was clear that he was taking it easy on his knee after the injury and wasn't trying to risk aggravating it again before the Olympics. It wasn't some sort of Alcaraz masterclass and I think if Djoker was healthy and wanted to up his level he could have made it a good match. He just looked out of it for the whole match, especially with movement. Yet again, the only people I can see stopping him are Alcaraz for obvious reasons, and Sinner if he can get his grass game together, simply because he's so strong on other fast courts. Djokovic is still a level above the rest of the tour, and in the same category as Sinneraz

Ideal calendar for 2025 should be

- United Cup (opportunity to play for his country and brings more points than the 250 anyway)
- AO
-Skip IW/Miami in March but should play a 500 in February... Dubai Doha or Rotterdam
- 1 or 2 clay warmups... I would skip MC and only play Rome and maybe a 250
-RG
- Wimbledon
- Cincinnati (he only threw it away this year because it was too close to Paris)
-US Open
- Skip the Asia swing and come back fresh for Paris/WTF... or skip the entire end of season

One thing I can say is he shouldn't be fully inactive between AO and Rome, it's too long and risky. If he misses the sunshine double (as he should), I hope he plays at least one of the 500 before IW. And playing just Rome could be dangerous too but I don't get why he keeps playing Monaco knowing how much he hates the conditions there. There are many 250 on clay in April/May that would be more benefical for him.

EDIT Apparently he can't play United Cup because there is no top100 in the WTA. Then probably Adelaïde or Brisbane

You missed queens

Be fully fit for ao and wimby.

And with great prep.

Those are his chances. Forget about other things. AO wimby and prep for them.

Heh, heh. When a Leviathan speaks, he is heard. Novak is akin to the cat among pigeons, and he'll be aware of that effect upon the tour. I have visions of feathers flying ...........

This feels a little strange for him to say, feels like it's coming from the same place as "I was right there, I can still compete" after getting beat 5&3 by Sinner. Starting to sound like a man in a bit of denial

Denial? He reached the final on 1 leg, with multiple injuries. And it was 7-6 6-3. He actually won more points in the opening set. Sinner is at his best right now, I don't think he can play much better. If Djokovic is back fully fit and healthy, you can't count him out in Australia.

I said a bit

Not a lot

And I don't want to hear about the leg. He tore a meniscus and needed surgery, but was doing the sliding airplane thing out wide in the Cerundolo match immediately after suffering the injury? Okaaaaaay

Don't flip flop.

You choose a side
Till this post you were on extreme side saying 30

But I see you have chosen the never 25 side now.

No middle ground. Good. Thats what ttw teaches

Why skip IW to play Dubai, Doha or Rotterdam? I am biased because I would like to see him one more time at IW after the debacle loss I saw this year.
Oh no , do not fall in this trap. There is nothing to gain from going to IW. More bad losses. Time for revenge is gone. We got all the revenge we wanted in 2023.

Whatever the ideal calendar is for him it needs to include MC. The opportunity for the 3x Golden Masters is too great too balk on. Skip the sunshine swing. Play MC then Rome and then straight to RG

No, sounds like it was a leading question.

Pretty common trait with ATGs coming to the end I think.

So many of them are the last to know when it is truly time to go.

It’s quite poetic in a way that the self belief, stubbornness and inner strength that serves them so well throughout their career is the same thing that eventually betrays them.

He wants us to believe that it's all still on his racquet. But it's not and anyone can see that Carlos and Jannik are going to beat him more likely than not these days
Its normal, Novak is almost 38 years old with operated elbow and knee. Plus his father had another surgery this week from new complication of the arm surgery earlier this year.

Novak's father developed an abscess with inflammation , so it was estimated that it was necessary to perform a new operation in order to remedy the problem. The operation was successful and Srđan is feeling well.
Djokovic was seen in front of the clinic on Thursday, and then information appeared that it was because of his father.

One last hurrah before going out. Slam win is not out of reach if star aligns for novak . Biggest factor is motivation. If novak can motivate himself to fight he can still produce high quality of tennis. Novak still can beat any top 20 players in BO5 sets.

A 100% focused Djokovic is still a continually declining Djokovic, and unlike the NextGens before them, Alcaraz and Sinner aren't intimated by Nole in BO5.
