I think he has won 3 this year, the most on tour! Nadal only 1 and 0 for Fed! And don't forget he also has a record of 4 masters finals this year...hmm.... I wonder which record he's more proud of?

It makes sense: Novak is #3, therefore the king of ATP 500 events, winning 3 of them, to Nadal'1 and Fed's 0. Nadal is #2, therefore the king of Masters 1000 events, winning 3 of them, to Fed's 2 and Novak's 0. Federer is #1, therefore the king of grand slams, winning 2 of them, to Nadal's 1 and Novak's 0.

Yup! Plus Fed has picked up 2 Masters to give him a clear edge in the rankings. Remember 2008 was a disaster with only the 1 slam and 3 ATP 250s.

This is Basel's first year as a 500 tournament. Which means that, even though Federer didn't defend his title, he actually gained on last year's point total from Basel.

Also, 500 tournaments are pretty tough to win. This year, every 500 tournament winner has been in the Top 10, except for Nicolas Almagro (Champion in Acapulco on clay- defeated then #10 Monfils) A 500 tournament should not be considered a mickey mouse tournament. It is not "Top Tier", but winning it is never easy. And Cilic is king of the ATP 250 Series. 2 wins and a runner-up trophy. I don't think anyone else has 3 250 finals this year.

500 Tournament fields also usually consist of at least 2 or more top 10 players, and usually at least 4-5 top 20 players. It's not exactly easy to win them. Some can compose of the whole top 10 (like Dubai normally does).

You are right, my bad. and Halle of course. Yea finalist is not bad, 300 more points further securing year end no.1.

Murray beat Federer thrice last year (Dubai, Madrid, and TMC). If you count his win against Federer in the exhibition they played early this year, Murray beat Federer three times this year as well.

The 2 that mattered the most- Federer won ! Im happy though that Federer crashed out to Djokovic in Miami-it was a real lowpoint, what happened then is HISTORY !!!
