djokovic to win CYGS 2025

what a way it will be to end the career of GOAT:

- win US 2024
- win AO 2025
- win FO 2025
- win Wimbeldon 2025
- win US 2025
- win AO 2026

have 30 Grandslams and retire from the Tennis

a perfect send off to the GOAT

Note: I hope he does the above, but IMHO he will only win one more, that too either AO 25 or Wimbeldon 25.

Even if he wins 0 it's a great ending. Having a 3 Slams + ATP finals season the year he turned 36 is a MONSTRUOSITY.
Agreed. He doesn’t need to win anything else. He completed his main mission/goals in 2023. It would just be incredible and the icing on cake if he won even 1 more slam and few other titles.

That said I expect him to still make deep runs in tournaments. He needs luck and the top players to be taken out but should an opportunity present itself he is very capable of taking advantage.

If Novak gets the gold at Olympics, this will be one of his greatest years ever, because that is all that is missing from his goat records. But everything points at this stage that he will not get this lesser one, and will have to settle for all the other big records, same as the great Rafa will never get a year end title.

But I guess Novak will keep on playing at least another year. He said a while ago the day he starts losing badly and early in GS events frequently (like a Murray?) then he will consider retirement.

That did not happen at all this year, he lost to two great young players at AO and Wimby, current nr. 1 and 3 players, and had to retire at RG.

I have a 50/50 opinion about when he should retire: I do not want to see him do the Murray or Rafa road, plodding along refusing to retire the past 2 years.

I think he must give it all to win Olympics and then next year all GS, and then retire end of next year... with hopefully Olympics gold and another one GS in the pocket.

I agree. I think he can go another year at least and still be competitive.

I wouldn’t be opposed to him retiring at any point. He has earned that right to decide.

I think he can be competitive with the best players in world for at least another year and maybe max 2. It could be less or more but that’s the ballpark.

I’d prefer him just to play to compete for titles but I can understand as well if he just wants to play for the love of the game too and he might try target smaller tournaments to target 100+ titles if the slams start getting too much. We will see.

Novak played two slams uninjured this year.

One was a semi and one was a final two weeks ago - coming off very irregular prep because of his procedure.

I hardly see any reason to count him out as a favorite of any slam.

Murray has played 8 years without winning a Slam (2017 to 2024). Hardly the same as Rafa, who has only been 2 years Slamless (2023 and 2024).
Wow, time flies, didn't realize it's been that long. I got respect for Murray fighting through the metal hip for most of those years.

Story says novak has won olympic gold and finding motivation for 25 slam is not there.

Yes, will be interesting to see how he goes ahead. I think AO 2025 is key to his decision to keep playing, or retire next year. But think he also want to play for Serbia more: DC.
