Djokovic to win the USO?

Fed is slumping. He just lost at Wimbledon to his pigeon Berdych:shock:

Murray just sacked his coach. Bad timing.

Rafa has never reached the final of the USO. Never beaten a top 10 there.

Del Potro is out injured. And he won't play there anyway.

Djokovic has lost to Federer at the USO for the past 3 years and this could be his best chance to finally win the USO. If someone takes out Fed early like at the QF(Gulbis for example) then Djokovic has great chances.

I had sort of forgotten about Djokovic... He does definitely have a good chance though; he usually plays well at the USO.

I have Djoker booked to win in New York this year. But in order for that to happen, someone has to take out Federer. If they play in the final, I'd give a slight edge to Djokovic but if they play any earlier than that, I'd expect Federer to win.

LOL, this is crazy, I was just on Rafa's FB and someone wrote this on his wall

Milan Please Nadal, let Djokovic to win us open. You will next year.

It's funny, I don't hear many people talking about Djokovic (and saying he is their favorite player) even though he is #2 in the world! I would say he has a great chance at winning.

Djokovic will need to avoid Fed this time. While Fed is in a slump, he always plays well in the USO against Djokovic, and he's been beating him for 3 years in a row now. Djokovic needs to pray he lands on the other side of the draw and hope Fed loses before they get to meet.

i think it's really open, the top 4 seem to me to have pretty much an equal chance. but hopefully nalbandian will win instead!

I agree but Federer is now recovering which may put him back on the train. :/

Plus when Fed sees Djokovic in the USO he somehow plays his best, just like when Nadal sees Fed he plays his best. I will be on Fed to take out Djoko in the Open.

IMO all pro's try their best.

^^he said "plays his best," not "tries his best." there's a difference . . . you can try your best one day and not be playing your best tennis. ;)

With his fitness, Faker isn't making it past QF. But hey, it's his chance to complete a career GS, if he retires at USO.

The weather and climate better be good to Djokovic. Even though he's one of my favorite players, it's honestly tough to seem beating Murray, Federer, or even mah boi Roddick for that matter.

If anyone remembers, Roddick was up 30-0 about to send the match to a fifth, but Nole got a 'gift' on his service and won in a close tiebreak.

Having said that, it seems like it does take an awful lot for Novak to get deeper into slams these days. Last year, although it was a close three sets, you never got the feeling that Djokovic could actually beat Federer in that semifinal.

It's actually been three straight loses to Federer for Djokovic in the US Open. I guess anything can happen, but it'll take a lot.

He is capable. It is up to him really. At his best he will most likely beat Nadal on a fast hard court. Unless Federer regains top form quickly Djokovic can beat anyone in the draw at the U.S Open.

Cyan,
is it "written in the stars" that Joker will win?
So you are now jinxing Đoković after burying Federer.

He could also lose to anyone in the draw due to his wildly inconsistent game.

it is written djokovic us open champion imo he deserve it
2007 final
2008 &2009 semis the djokoer plays his best at the US

it could happen...but I could also seem him losing easily to Berdych, Fed, Soderling or Murray. He's lucky Delpo pulled out.

It's going to be a real test for Nadal as always, whilst Federer hasn't played well for the past 7 months.

This is a huge opportunity for both Djokovic and Murray, hopefully Murray can pick his first one up there but a win for Djokovic would be nice aswell.

just for reference, when was the last time djoker actually beat a top 10 opponent?

Last year in the end of year championships, he beat both Davydenko and Nadal. But yeah that was in november, almost 9 months ago

Really!
Djoko doesn't have a win over Top10er from November! This is quite disappointing and not give him chances for USO (according to many statisticians in this forum)!
After all the fun of Nadal and his performance against Top10 opponents last year, look at Nole:shock:!He is also tragic!
Geez!These № 1 and № 2 should be shame and disgrace to tennis, right:confused:?

On topic-Nole have all the chances to win this tournament!I don't care about his recent statisic! The truth is that he is capable to beat everybody at the courts in New York!
He will do it or not is another question and depends mainly on him!

well i do agree that Djoker has a good chance of winning. Nadals record vs top 10 opponents this season is pretty strong though, two wins over Soderling, one over Murray, Tsonga and Federer and losses to Murray, Roddick and Davydenko. 5-3 which isnt bad and it could have been 6-2 if Nadal hadnt blown away his mps vs davydenko.

Those missed match points agains Davydenko still make me mad:evil:!
Rafa always had excellent results against opponents of the Top 10(excluding the period from August to November 2009)!No matter how some people here want to discredit him because of the second half of 2009!His record is something like 66-36 and I think that Fed only has better performance this decade!
Anyway! I think Nole and Rafa belongs where thay deserve!!At #1 and #2 and thay have good chances for USO, regardless of Nole's latest results and Rafa's last fall performance!

Who is Novak being coached by now? Whoever it is should try and get him really fired up. He really ought to have had his 2nd slam by now. He should be more motivated than he seems to be at the moment.

Mentally he is not there, however we have seen him start to form his serve back. My money is on Murray this year.
