It would be really poetic if he retired. His whole career people didn’t like him, and was hated by many. And now it seems, when he almost reached the highest peak of tennis Everest, he barely missed, but he finally got the love and affection of the tennis world. Hero stuff.

True but he wants that 21. Plus he is still likely to get more. Fed is done and Rafa is only a threat at fo.

That would be a superb ending for a movie, but life isn't a movie and I don't think he will pass up the chance to win more slams just so he can end his career in a poeatically beautiful way.

Agree; this was an articulate, candid response that really conveyed how he felt about the whole journey. He genuinely just seems to be relieved that it's all over now.

He will be back to win more slams for sure, though I'm not sure he will want to even contemplate trying for the CYGS again ...

Very classy presser and a lot of honesty. Djoker finally got a bit of the love that Roger has always had crowd from the crowd and it apparently means more to him than the grand slam itself. Interesting perspective and one only he has experienced. We all knew he craved the love, but he admitted it today to his credit. Great season for Djokovic, another three slam year. Incredible for a 34 year old.

Hadn’t seen the presser, but seeing his emotions after the match already made me feel guilty for rooting so hard for Med and made me a fan. shows how much he had put into this and to get so close, only to have a match like today with dead legs and your opponent playing lights out is tough.

This is pure fantasy by someone that spends way too much time on TTW and apparently none at tennis tournaments where Djoker plays. Djoker has been the third biggest draw on the men's side in NY for at least 10 years. I've seen him at others and he's always a major draw.

That the crowd would be pulling for him was a given. Because he's a great champion and the NY crowd will get behind any player and forgive anything (ask 2019 Meds) if you leave it all on the court and he was going for a CYGS which most people wanted to witness.

Borg is betterer.
The guy who never won a US Open? lol

Borg left tennis at 26. All he has is extrapolation and hypotheticals, really. He is blessed, tbh, because we never saw him struggle with age or adversity. He quit before any of that could happen. So of course he can seem better.

Borg is a serious GOAT.

Joker smashes his H.22 paint jobs.

Sadness.
