There is a high chance he reads the comments too!!

From a recent article:

Jelena says

Recently, Novak’s wife Jelena spoke about her husband’s unwavering obsession with tennis. She also spoke about how she and her children accompany Novak to the tournaments and how their time eventually gets utilized. Even after his matches, he returns to the hotel and watches tennis, which at times annoys them.

He is in it non-stop, when he returns home he watches on Youtube and analyzes what happened in another match, who is the next opponent, what the competition is doing.

Djokovic is so dedicated that it gets on nerves of some of his family
Jelena revealed details of their outings with Novak and stated, “The dynamics of our trip is mostly such that we know the hotel rooms, we know the way to the tennis courts and we know the local parks of the place where we are. Novak is someone who grew up with that intensity of “break ball, match ball, break ball, match ball”, but we get tired of watching, we change the channel to rest.”

I have a friend who is a close and childhood friend of Djokovic...He lives in my street...

He told me like few weeks ago that Djokovic does not plan to stop, does not feel old and that he wants to routhlessly dominate in foreseeable future if he continues without injury.(he quoted Djokovic.)

He also told me that Djokovic spend around 3 hours training daily and rest of the day he is watching his opponents and writting on paper what they do and how to counter them....

He is obsessed to be the best...

Thanks for sharing this. I think a lot of fans underestimate how much goes into being a professional athlete, let alone one of the most accomplished athletes in human history.

Folks criticize talented athletes like Monfils or Safin or Stephens for not "maximizing their potential," but they don't realize maximizing their potential requires the kind of obsession we see from Djokovic. We can't expect anybody to be that obsessed; they need to want it like they want oxygen.

I agree on this...There are probably more talented players than big 3 but to produce the big 3 results you have to be a workoholic maniac.

Not even surprising at this point. No one exploits opponent’s weaknesses and adjusts better than Djokovic

He’s a student of the game as he should be. He wouldn’t be where he is today without his psychotic tendencies much to the dismay of Jelena.

Djokovic is very similar to Kobe Bryant in this regard (unnatural drive, obsession, and competitiveness), which is why they were each other’s favorite athletes

It's true I noticed during the AO19 final he thought the rallies two or three steps ahead. He knew exactly what Nadal was gonna do, because he was making Rafa do it. It was totally a spider-fly affair, so I have no problem believing he studies the game of his opponents rather meticulously.

I thought there was zero chance he was going to choose Novak out of the 3. Especially with the fact that he was Nike's face of basketball while Rafa and Roger were Nike's face of tennis. Definitely one of the most surprising interviews I had seen (I think this is USO 2019) but yeah, Kobe and Djokovic are probably the most similar in obsessiveness.

This makes me wonder how/if players scouted their potential opponents back in the day. I imagine before videotape there was very little scouting going on

It's not surprising at all that Kobe would be subversive with his answer.

Well, not that long ago - just a few years back, he was far from this position today. All of a sudden he is untouchable, top player with best records fighting for even more, for glory, own history, for tennis history.
At 34, of course everyone would do anything to get an advantage over competition for these ultimate achievements in a limited playing time.

Moreso surprising that he knew Djokovic and was a friend and fan of his. I thought for sure he would have been around Federer a lot for Nike promos and the like in the mid-2000s.

A friend of mine is an old friend of Srdjan from his early childhood and he said that Djok asks Srdjan to pretend to be this bully father who is not liked in the Western media while Srdjan does not like doing it and wants Djok to stop playing tennis. He does not see him as the SOG but to stir up the controversy Djok (the son) has been insisting (after watching YT and reading the comments) that Srdjan and the mother publicly push him so he is perceived as a victim. One of the reasons why Pepe was hired (against the will of the Bosnian pyramid expert) was that Djok's uncle, who is an old drunk, gets annoyed with Pepe as he is anti-gay, so the meaning of love that Pepe is propagating is in contrast with the beliefs of his nation who can not love but are all arrogant and ani-Rog. Djok knows what he is doing but it's all suss to me! LIke he has nothing better to do. Like winning slams day in, day out.

There is a level of obsession among the true greats of the game - in all sports. It's really impressive in pro tennis, as it has such a short off-season.
Yeah, in this matter of game obsession Novak reminds me of Magnus Carlsen in chess, they're both using their "free time" to learn more and more about the game and about opposition.

That's an intelligent move.

Tennis is a complex game, which includes a lot of preparation and analysis of opponents, to stay at the top of the game.

Novak improves every possible relevant aspect of his game.

Lol. People the main thing I had in mind while making the thread was that if Djokovic spends hours and hours on YouTube he most probably reads the comments as well.

So if you wanna contact him, that might be a amazing method.
