I get the hype, but let's not get carried away here. Winning slams is not like picking apples off a tree,it's incredibly tough to do. I don't think you can count on anything happening in the future, things can turn on a dime.

This post is too rational and thus I have nominated it for a public flogging

What says Federer will stop at 20?

Djokovic days of catching feds slam count are over. Nadal is more likely, but even that is doubtful. Still there is alot more to it than just checking the slam count.

He has the talent and ability but not time.
This. Haven’t you guys learned anything from the last 2 years. You’d think some humility would have come from that. Enjoy the ride as long as it lasts. It’ll end on whatever it ends on. But catching Fed is highly unlikely

So it took him 10+ years to win 14 and now he is all of a sudden going to win 7 more in what, 2-3 years at 31+ years of age. That is about what McEnroe, Becker, Edberg, Wilander, Lendl won their whole careers. Sorry it ain't happening.

Agree. Nole is highly, highly unlikely to catch Fed and even catching Nadal will be a big effort. But there is plenty more Nole can accomplish.

So one guy can win 3 Slams in his 35-36 but 31.5 is mission impossible ?
Ok...
Totally different playing styles. Djokovic will probably lose a step or two in the next years and I can't se him play as offensive as Federer. What Federer did at 35-36 is not normal and we will have to wait and see if Djokovic and Nadal will be even close to that level at that age. Personally I don't think so.

So someone hasn't won Slam for 8 years and suddenly he raked 3 in year and a half ?

Styles have nothing to do with it, only does the path for Slam opens up for you or not.

Djokovic relies heavily on his amazing defence. How many more years will he be able to keep that up? That's why it matters.

Wouldn't surprise me if he did. It will depend on his body and motivation because it's quite clear that all things being equal, he's the best player in tennis.

Why would that matter if he has nobody to defend from ?
Federer has attack, but when he faces defenders (and good quantity of them) he stands almost without chance.

As Moratauglu said, Joker be the boss! He actually said he owns the head to head against both Fed and Nadal and is the current boss or something to that effect.
For now yes. But if we take a look at the broader picture let's say the last two years the slam count is Federer - 3, Nadal -3, Djokovic - 2. Now who is the boss?

Stick a fork in him he's done. I'll take the Joker in any future head to head with Fed and anything but clay with Nadal.

Even if he had 18 but second French that would push him over

Djoker has done far better than nadal in every slam but French and therefore i rank him higher
So Djokovic is better than Nadal in most of the majors and still can’t catch him? That seems like his fault, Nadal is clearly ahead

He may very well end up with the most GS of his era. That would be an amazing achievement considering that majority of the tennis world viewed him as a third-wheel to Fed and Nadal for all of those years. Full credit to Novak for breaking the duopoly and making tennis more interesting.

Fed is the best player I have seen and he will always remain my favorite. However, if anyone believes Djokovic or Nadal to be greater/better than Fed, then that's okay as well. All have demonstrated insane tennis feats and have pushed the limits on what can be accomplished on a tennis court.

He only needs another slam or two. He has a winning record against both Nadal and Federer, especially in GS. That speaks volume.

no he hasn't!

the have 3 USOs each, and considering hard court is Djokovic's best surface, he should have more!
