Djokovic will come back strong from this AO retirement

Djokovic body did fail him this year just like it did in AO 21 and AO23.

He was able to manage the injuries then but not this time. As he ages, we will see more such injuries for sure but he managed to get from the past ones very well.

I think this is too early for nolefams to panic. He will come back very strong.

Hence, the whole point on how strong his comeback will be. RG is many months away.
Yes. So when I say he will come back stronger I strictly mean in slams.

From now till rome doesn't matter to Nole at all. Forgetting everything 109, 99 everything. Only slams matter.

For slams, I think he will be fine. The focus and intent is there. It is more about the body now for him.

This Australian Open of Djokovic has given two verdicts and a final consideration of mine;

1) That Djokovic at this age as normal is increasingly subject to injuries, and always due to his age it is presumable that he also takes longer to heal.

2) That his level of play is still worthy of a serious contender for the slams.
What he did between Machac, Lehecka and Alcaraz, clearly demonstrates it.
If he had not been injured in the match against Alcaraz I think he would have definitely gone to the final.

3) I see him as the favorite to win the next Wimbledon, always injuries permitting.

Agreed with all.

I said it before but I think Novak should try his best to win a small title if he can comeback after this injury. It his best chance of another title but depends if he motivated by that.

He has to be realistic where he’s at and try win something anywhere to get another title. If it possible depending on his body.

I also think if he wants any chances at a slam he needs to prioritise which one to go for. For Wimbledon and French at his age he can’t go for both. It just isn’t possible as they so close together so he needs to decide.

Personally I’d like him to do what Fed started doing and maybe skip clay or reduce schedule to focus on grass. On grass it can be a bit less demanding and if he serves well try keep points and matches shorter.

He’s close to tipping point though and eventually if not now or soon it’s going to be 1 injury to much like it was for Fedal.

It up to him but if he gets over this injury I’d like to see him target smaller titles to try get the 100, etc and prioritise grass and Wimbledon over clay and us open.

He can’t do it all now and he’s at that point.

Novak body is starting to betray him. No way you can win 7 BO5 matches when your body start failing you.
AO gives hope that he still can fight but if if you are again going to retire because of injury in next slam and that after reaching 4 th R or QF or SF or F that will be more devastating.

This thread reminds me of similar delusion when FEDR and Vamos were de facto done but continued on for a while. Egg can’t bot his way to major titles. Egg’s game depends on elite level movement. He’s almost 38 and the movement declines, injury or no injury. He did nothing last year outside of Oly Bo3. I actually hope I’m wrong. Else we’re stuck with Mr. Snooze. :(

Djokovic long odds at slams

RG +750
Wimbledon +550
USOpen +600
AO +700

It's becoming more like Nadal odds last year.

Last year Nadal had +2200 at rg once the draw was revealed. Djokovic has not reached that level yet but he is nowhere near real contender right now except at Wimbledon.
