Impossible to see when the only record he was chasing was most retirements in GS matches. Dietary change, obsession with fitness, CVAC = radically changed his trajectory. Still a cool player though, and those adidas CC Genius I and II I had with their Novak logo were great shoes.

Well on that subjective individual opinion i can add that Novak also dominated era with strongest competition in history which is a fact and not an opinion...

And that fact also supplements the other fact that he is the most dominant number 1 by numbers and eye test.

Crying because of losing in the final is not the same as sneering somebody for retiring . If he retied in the final than ok it might be hilarious .
