There is no doubt Djokovich is a incredible player, a great baseliner. When he gets into his rhythm against another baseliner (Most modern players), he is near unbeatable.
However, put pressure on him and he falls apart. He doesn't just lose, he gets devastated, total confusion and big losses.
Just some recent examples are aggressive Fed in Wimbledon but more pronounced at Cincinnati, Wawrinka this year in Australia, and Haas a few days ago. There are many more examples, it's a trend.
When pressured from mid court and the net Novak simply doesn't know what to do. Haas KICKED HIS BACKSIDE, it wasn't even close, Djokovich looked average.
I would see Sampras absolutely destroying Djokovich.
That being said, with all of the baseliners out there he will have some good success, until we get a consistent aggressive all court player to come along and beat him regularly.
