Djokovic's Big 4 Dominance at AO

Unprecedented. Unmatched. Untouchable.
Since the surface change in 2008, Djokovic has owned the AO, and owned his top competition, the Big 4. As he stands one match away from extending his record to 8 titles, let's break it down:

2008 vs Federer
7-5 6-3 7-6

2011 vs Federer
7-6 7-5 6-4

2011 vs Murray
6-4 6-2 6-3

2012 vs Murray
6-3 3-6 6-7 6-1 7-5

2012 vs Nadal
5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7 7-5

2013 vs Murray
6-7 7-6 6-3 6-2

2015 vs Murray
7-6 6-7 6-3 6-0

2016 vs Federer
6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3

2016 vs Murray
6-1 7-5 7-6

2019 vs Nadal
6-3 6-2 6-3

2020 vs Federer
7-6 6-4 6-3

Match record: 11-0
Final record: 6-0
SF record: 5-0
Set record: 33-7
Straight set matches: 6/11, 54.5%
Matches vs Federer: 4-0
Sets vs Federer: 12-1

To say Djokovic is the king of AO would be an understatement. Djokovic is AO.

This is very impressive, hopefully he will dominate the younger players there as well. Still, nadals overall record at the french open is more impressive.

I dunno about removing the match in 2007. Sure the court was different, but imo it wasn’t a whole lot faster in 2007 than 2008. The difference is about as big as the difference between 2016 and 2017 AO courts.

The difference between 2007 and 2008 was their level/form.Federer was better in 2007, Djokovic better in 2008.Too bad they didn't met in 2009 & 2010 or even in 2017, just to troll the H2H fanboys.

Very convenient to divide AO into pre-08 and post-07... That way you conveniently get to avoid mentioning Novak's defeat to Federer in 2007, 4th round...

And, for some reason, the loss to Wawrinka isn't there either.

Why the need to omit these results? You could still make a point about his domination AND not be accused of cherry-picking fact-spinning.

Djokovic had a stroke of good fortune when he the surface change gave him the equivalent of Chatrier clay for Nadal. Djokovic is so comfortable on the AO courts, like a lion roaming its own territory.

This is some comical level of cherry picking. Could you not at least wait till he wins the tournament before throwing this stuff together? Also, on the subject of cherry picking, if this record only begins in 2008 should it not end in 2019, as is this years tournament not technically being played on a different kind of hard court?

He is so dominant there and is the AO goat by a mile but it’s cherry picking to take out 2007 even though is was only a teenager. 11-1 is still a GOAT achievement

Im ready for the FO for the news to shift back to Rafa lol. Rafa was the GOAT last month, now its January which is ALWAYS Djokovic's time and we are acting shocked and surprised.

So mentioning 'big 4' to make it look more dominant than it is, as 5 of the wins were against Murray LOL

I really wonder why Djokovic fans like to mention Murray but not Wawrinka who was a much stronger rival. Because Wawrinka actually beat him once? Well, Djokovic still beat him 2 times out of 3. He definitely should be added to the list of rivals.

it's storm in a teacup

Rafa is gonna be the slam record holder anyways, I dunno why Djoker fanbase is getting all loud and obnoxious now he's got a mountain to climb to get to 21 (or 22 if Rafa gets there first)

Murray made 5 finals and 1 more SF where he took Djoker to 5. He's also beaten Fedal at AO. Wawrinka has made 3 SFs ever.

Wawrinka won the title, better than anything Murray ever achieved at this tournament. And more important thing is that he was just a stronger rival. He should be added to the list.

Do you really think that if I will make a thread about Nadal's record against his rivals in RG then I will mention him beating Murray in 2011 and 2014 semifinals? Of course not. Beating Soderling and Thiem a few times was much more impressive.

Murrovic H2H: 25-11
Djokovic Wawrinka H2H: 19-6
It's all the same. Djokovic owns both of them.

I thought "Murray deserved an AO, he was soooo unlucky"
Murray very good player. But lets no put him in the same level as Nadal, Fed and Djokovic please.

You've just padded your stat cos he beat Murray half of the times you are referring to as 'dominating' the 3 guys.

Basically lol, when was Novak ever losing here? I know they have been waiting a while to puff their chests but still.

The things some posters get upset about. All the OP did was post an extremely impressive record of Djokovic’s. Never said he was the GOAT. Never said it was better than Rafa at the French. And it’s not, but it is extremely impressive. His only loss to any of the Big 3 at the Australian was as a 19-year-old. Crazy dominance. He’s been hit-and-miss there sometimes, going down to “lesser” opponents, but when he makes it deep and plays the best players in the world, he’s pretty much unstoppable.

Djokovic is the best slow hardcourt player of all time. His whole game is about playing like a backboard, consistency and pushing. His return of serve is the best of all time and his consistency from both wings is unreal. On a garbage surface like the AO where attacking players have no chance he dominates. If you look at a true fast surface like Cincinnati he’s only won one title because he can’t backboard his way to a title. The surfaces have completely phased out the aggresive player.

Thank you. I hate how whenever someone posts stats about Big 3, there's always an unspoken GOAT argument in there.

Let me be clear for this thread: this was NOT intended to prove Djokovic is the GOAT over Fedal. I just wanted to post some insane stats and remind everyone that Djokovic at AO is #Epic.

Shows stats vs Big 4.

Good old TTW - OMG such cherry picking, why didn't you include Stans, Roddicks, Tsongas...

He is dominant at AO when you look at it from any angle. And the fact that singling out his record against his greatest three rivals is considered cherry picking now shows that as well.

They're not losers. They all deserved their wins.
But my thread was about him owning the Big 4, not Chung or Tsonga.
But again, why does your OP include a result on green set or whatever the hell it's called, but not rebound ace? Is 11-1 that ugly to look at?

Just checked the web about greenset, I stand corrected. I thought it was just a different brand name for the same material, but it really is a different surface.
10-0 on Plexi AO then. 11-1 overall.
