Djokovic's chances at the French Open 2025?

What are the chances for Djokovic to win the title at the French Open this year and equal Graf's unique quadruple career grand slam achievement? It'd be monumental for Novak to do that and get the elusive #25 at the same time.

The red clay of Paris to be Novak's swansong this year? One last push??.. Can he achieve this ultimate cherry on top of his already outrageous career? If anyone can do it it's Djokovic, the heavyweight champion of the world!

EDIT: for Nole fans, if he could only win one more slam, which would you pick?

lol, the Quadruple Career Grand Slam is not some I’d considered a lot.
Previously due to Nadal’s dominance at the French.
In saying that, I thought at least Margaret Court had it too in the WTA.
But no, even as a Nole fan, I think it’s a reach too far now.

He needs to get a super easy draw until the semis or even final. Even if he gets it, there ia no guarantee he will not get injured in the process. Wimbledon is a better chance IMO.

I would say that he can very well aim to win all 3 tournaments, therefore killing four birds with one stone.
He reaches the quadruple career slam, officially becomes the only player to surpass 24 slams without distinction of gender, equals Federer's record at Wimbledon, and equals Federer, Connors and Sampras at the US Open, detaching Nadal.

Besides, the Serbian's tendency in the slams is unmistakable.

He needs to avoid Sinner and Alcaraz IMO. Or at worst, at least avoid playing BOTH together.

What he did at Olympics against Alcaraz was almost freakish, those God tier forehands at the absolute most clutch moment, and serving high into the 80s.

Alcaraz and Sinner will only be stronger on clay this year, both last year missed most of the lead up, and they still did what they did at RG.

I would like Djokovic to face Cerundulo, Mensik, Sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev at FO and Draper, Berretini instead of Cerundulo, Zverev at Wimb.

The draw strength may motivate him for a great performance

If he gets close, will you start to worry again and talk about how you personally won't be satisfied with the win?

Would be super cool if he won RG. I keep my fingers crossed.

Sinner 75% chance
Raz 20% chance
Djokovic 3% chance
Chainz/Fonseca/Pas/Fils/etc. 2% chance

If Carlos were to fire Ferrero, though…

Raz 95% chance
Sinner 4% chance
Djokovic 1% chance

Think of what a wonderful world this could be.
Wow you're really down on Raz before clay season has even started

I think Sinner's chance is actually lower than that

As someone who would like to see Novak win one (but only one) more slam, it doesn't matter to me where it happens. Like many, I think his best chances are at Wimbledon.

Having said that, Wimby possibly brings some players into contention (at least a puncher's chance) that you may not get at RG: Draper, Mensik, possibly Shelton and even Shapo. Still, I think there are more good clay courters than there are guys who look at home on grass.

One slight wild card for RG is Sinner, good as he is. I'm sure he's enjoying a long training block and rest, but will he be match-ready with few matches under his belt?

Easily third favorite. I’d put Sinner and Alcaraz at around, I don’t know, 30-35% chance apiece. Novak next in like at 15-20%.

The biggest challenge is not his tennis ability or the clay competition but rather keeping his body fit throughout the entire fortnight.

I don’t see him winning 21 sets to win another tournament if he keeps flopping like a fish in these best of 3’s. Ain’t no way he wins RG if he was unable to win AO. (Look at 16’. 21’ and 23’)

Probably not but I’d sooner bet on him than Zverev and I can’t really see anyone outside those four having the actual tennis to go all the way at the moment.

Can’t see Novak making a RG final ever again if he couldn’t even make it to an AO final where the courts are quick and the points are short, which is what he needs at his old tennis age of 38. I predict he loses/retires in the 3rd or fourth round. Doesn’t even make QF

As long as the draws on the other side doesn’t collapse , I am all for it

I would like Djokovic to get to 30 majors, same as how much Fed distanced himself from Sampras

#25 is the most important number. Forget 30 If novak reaches 26 that is 6 slam gap with fedrer . That is what fedrer is 6 slam gap with Sampras.

Less than last year. Look at the difference between the 2024 and 2023 Wimbledon finals.

The main problem as one gets older is consistency from match to match, or even during the same match. He's still capable of his peak form at times, but is less likely to be consistent. You also take longer to recover from the aches and pains, and from fatigue.

No, the target would actually be 28 (22+6), but since it is Novak he willl always try to do one better than Fedal
Novak is not reaching 28 slams.
If luck favours him maybe 25 slam is still a possibiity but 28 is not happening even if take out Sinner alcaraz out of the equation.
Bo5 7 matches are too much of ask.

Of course you would. (y)

And Federer isn't the guy in second place, he's third.

That is some good logic . Nadal is 2 slam ahead of fedrer and novak is 2 slam ahead of nadal . In a way novak has done just enough to be considerd best among big3.
24 slam was minimum required and novak just did that.

I'm still in shock our Djoker didn't conquer Miami this year. He had everything in his favour: the momentuum, the perfect draw...

I'd suggest it's better to wait to see how he performs during the clay Masters to see his form.

At the end of the day, Nadal is multiple slams ahead of Federer, and Djokovic is multiple slams ahead of Nadal. Meaning there is clear daylight between them.

Given the absolutely non existent competition, I think he is almost a lock for DO this year.

We have no idea what Sinner's form will be, and clay is not his strongest surface anyway.

Alcaraz is old Djokovic's pigeon.

Zverev? Much more likely to lose early than to beat Djokovic in BO5.

He has a good chance of winning Roland Garros this year. Djokovic is more confident than ever on clay because he won the gold medal last year in Paris. Plus, he wants slam #25 and the quadruple surface slam.

What makes you think that Ferrero is a bad coach. Under his guidance, Carlos has won 4 slams and 5? Masters. One hell of an achievement.
He is incosistent and most likely always will be.
His peak though will be insane.

Firing someone doesn’t fix any problem unless you replace them with someone better. Presumably you are not suggesting he should fire JCF and be without a coach.

He is as good as anyone on clay right now - presumably.

He’s got as much right to be the favorite as any other player.

Of course, as if winning 21 sets were the same as winning 12, and players that age can no longer win GS tournaments.

No, our Djoker will not let that happen . He will want to remain in a tier all by himself . 25 is too close to Margaret Court
