Djokovic's new stick???

At least until his elbow issues fully resolve, he should go back to using full Biphase or better yet full natural gut.

When I briefly asked him about the 18x19 stick 4 days ago he didn't really say anything one way or the other. We will see if it becomes a permanent switch !

It's one of the new Head Speed models coming out in July
You have been spot on in the past. I wonder if it will be the same as the retail? In the meantime the few obsessed here are frantically searching the web via hectic networking to attain a personal stick so they can disect it, measure the specs, post some pics, and gain TT glory ;-)

Any more details on new head speed models with 18x19 pattern?

it is the same one from the Stock. but then novak uses lots of lead so you will not be able to duplicate it

Any more info on whether this is same mold, but different drill pattern? Any data captured on whether the RPM changed on his shots in the matches so far with the new frame? Thoughts or speculation on the lead reduction with the new customization?

Do his shots still appear as penetrating as before, or looks to be more spin driven/compensated?

Have no doubt the 18x19 pattern is to soften the stringbed slightly and a little more easy spin, 18x20 patterns in a 95 head can be very boardy...... a little less lead and weight will be less stress on his forearm with his ridiculous forehand grip too.

No doubt these changes are to lessen stress on his forearm while keeping his same racquet.

Now that the Aus open has long finished... had a chance to have a chat with my stringer, who also strung Novak's frames at the Aus open and Kooyong.
Firstly, he said it was a different mold, but still 95sqin...
He also said it was 1mm thicker beam.
He said it was not a custom drilled pt113b1.
Djoker wanted a more open pattern and more free power. His string setup remains the same.
The first 10 frames he received from Head were all over the place in terms of quality, especially the grommets, which he said were absolute crap, and stringers had a nightmare at Kooyong with those.
The next 10 batch were much better he reckons, purpose fit / build.

That's all at this stage..... ;-)

^That picture above shows the same mold as the PT113B.
I am not sure how could the stringer spot the mold differences?

So... Novak Djokovic, an all time great is also using the retail "crap" BT gut.

All of us needs to quit b*tching about BT now.

I am not sure, but why don't players take their own stringers with them? I mean, on that level, every little thing is important, and I can imagine that not all stringers are doing the same quality job, especially when there is time pressure on tournaments. why do they trust every random stringer on a atp tour to do the best job, and not take their own stringer with them?

Costs a lot to have a stringer travel with you everywhere. Also a lot of the stringers at the tournament have been doing their job for a long time, and they usually have babolat machines anyway. So its just cheaper to figure out how the strings will come out with each guy. They're not going to be too far off from what you're used to at XXlbs. So if it's a bit tighter or looser than you want, just have the match sticks adjusted slightly.

I am not a pro, but the cost argument doesn't count in top100 atp. they all take their 2-4 trainer, massage guy, fitness guy, wife/kids/family with them. and since I think that the the racquet is the one and only thing that counts beside your actual body, so I could imagine that the strings are a big deal, but maybe I am just on the wrong path here =)

and anyway this is wrong thread for this theme. gonna fire up a new one =)

I mean it depends on who you ask. If a lot of them aren't using private stringers like novak for example and nadal, then the cost might not be worth it

Getting the frames matched; is done by many more players. The quality of stringing on the main tour is consistent enough for most. At the Challenger/Future level, things may be more hit or miss, but a personal stringer for those players is truly cost prohibitive.
Hope Nole, Rafa Andy & Stan get back to playing. Each brings something different to the tour
