TL;DR - Djokovic documentary should be out by the end of February next year, at the latest. Looking forward to it. It would be cool if they do it as a series rather than just one film.

"During this year’s Australian Open, world No 1 Novak Djokovic announced the filming of a documentary about him breaking the record for most weeks as the top-ranked number player in the world.

Initially, it was due to be released during August, before the US Open, but now it seems that the documentary is going to be broad-ranging, something Djokovic is very excited about.

Speaking to Serbian journalists following his fourth round win over Jenson Brooksby, Djokovic said the release date would be later than initially planned.

“There have been some changes in the meantime, since we wanted to shoot some more material,” he said. “At the moment, the plan is for the documentary to see the light of day near the end of this year, or in the first two months of 2022. We are recording stuff here in New York as well. Then we need to edit it, to make it whole and to decide whether it is going to be a film or a docuseries. We are going to make that decision as a team.”

Djokovic: “For those who do not know me, it will be a chance to get to know me better off the court”

Once again, Djokovic reiterated that he is very excited about the whole project.

“It is about my career and my life, some of my intimate and private things,” he said. “All of the people that are closest to me have given interviews speaking about me. I feel that it is going to be very interesting and I hope that the people will like it. Also, for those who do not know me, it will be a chance to get to know me better off the court.”

Hope he doesn’t play less than 7 tournaments a year and let documentaries spread his fame in the future. Fans like me want to see him play more than they want to see a documentary.

Better have a lot of behind the scenes stuff. That would be worth watching as opposed to a bunch of Djokovic team members talking about his greatness. Let us have a look behind the curtain. Even if there's another curtain behind it. Maybe a slightly more transparent one.

Of course, watching matches is always better. But he is getting older and has stated many times he's going to be focusing on the slams now, so that's where we'll mostly see him. Personally I consume as much tennis content as I can haha.

It will only be preaching to the converted. None of his 'haters' are going to be pulled in by some carefully crafted PR.

Still, as a Rafan, I'm really looking forward to it. I just hope to really learn about the guy. Post US Open reaction would be great to study.

Looking forward to this but just hope he doesn't spend too much time wittering on about his diet (which spoiled for me the autobiography I read a few years ago).
The book was about the Diet (including the title) and his struggles to discover what was not allowing him to play to his full capacity rather than his "autobiography"

I do, however, agree that this documentary should be focused on other things and I expect it will focus on him off the court and off the usual training and food routines

Must have misread the title then. I was so looking forward to reading about his rise to greatness and all I could get was what he was eating and how good that was for him.

But that was one of the keys to his greatness. Had he stuck to his pizza and Burek stuff, he would have been stuck as the top 10 player forever.
I am gluten irritable/intolerant and when I focus on gluten-free diet, I am a different person. However, it is too demanding and too expensive...

Maybe but not particularly interesting to read about though. Not for me anyway.

I hope your gluten intolerance wasn’t diagnosed the same way as his

Was not officially diagnosed however, I played with the food and when I focused on GF stuff for 2-3 months all the bloating, “laziness”, stomach discomfort disappeared.

There is already a good YouTube mini documentary for Djokovic. It's over an hr long and I don't think much was left uncovered in this one.

Djokovic with Graham Bensinger

We also have his interviews with Jay Shetty and Lewis Howes. Not much is unknown in his story for Nolefams. Unless he gives behind the scene shots for 2021 season.

I enjoyed those series of interviews even if I find myself disagreeing with a few of Djokovic's views. They were well constructed.

If I can read all of "Rafa", you can watch an hour of Djokovic ;)
Rafa was pretty boring book. Only thing I found great was how Rafa described his feelings before 2008 Wimbledon final. He described him being in peak of his game physically and telling how much confidence he got because of it. That really sums up professional sports. At his physical peak, Rafa was scary opponent for anyone.

Most sports biographies follow the same format.

"I was young and I played this sport. I was good at it. I got older and got better at the sport, then I became a professional. I then got better and won some stuff. The end."
