Do people believe Sloane Stephens is the real deal or just USA media hype?

Rubin and Stephens games are also similar they are like counter punchers and not aggressive baseliners like Serena and Venus.

Rubin just like Stephens also excelled on the clay courts.

Oh, for--

Try watching Venus' back to back Wimbleson/USO victories; she did not win by being an "aggressive baseliner." Venus had excellent court coverage and was not afraid of the net at all.

Serena also used her insight of the entire court to win--which would not happen standing on the baseline all day.

Sloan is the real deal. There are very few players on the WTA with her talent. I would like to see her move away from the USTA and get a real good coach. I see that her play is too conservative. She hits down the middle too much, plays it too safe when she is ahead. I think these playing traits are indicative of USTA coaching. They always want their developing players to grind out points conservatively, playing safe and hit yet another ball and let your opponent make the mistake. The entire USTA High Performance coaching staff is littered with unachieving grinders. There is no champion DNA in their mix. Sloan has too much talent to play the USTA way. She is in a developmental stage where she should be going for her shots and developing weapons. She has one of the biggest forehands in the WTA and moves exceptionally well. Time for her to move on to better coaching.

Aside from Sloan, the real talent in the US is 17 year old and lefty, Taylor Townsend. I saw her play in the qualies and she has all the shots and for a big girl, moves exceptionally well. She has big shots from both wings, cutting slice, good hands. She is also in that very important stage where she needs confidence building and to hit out. Pat Mac knows nothing about development. When the USTA would not endorse her for last year's junior US Open when she was #1 junior because she didn't lose weight? WTF? That is not confidence inspiring. It only hurts her development not playing in the premier event against the best players in the world! It was Pat Mac power tripping! This girl needs a good coach. I have seen the uSTA High Performance ruin so many aggressive juniors. They neuter them and turn them into countering punching grinding baseliners. Let talent develop at their own aggressive pace and get out of the way with your bs...
