Do textured strings really provide more spin?

I have been reading how pro supex blue gear provides insane spin and a lot more spin compared to big ace and how sppp hextreme provides much more spin than normal sppp and the spin on textured strings is much higher. Have people actaully found a noticable difference in spin with the geard or textured or differnet shaped strings? I honestly think it is just in their head or they are just assuming it will.

I like sppp 17L, and I am always ready to hit with more topsin, so does this mean I should try sppp hextreme?

Thanks

Textured string was introduced for people who couldn't hit with thinner gauges, which produce better head speed and a quicker "bat" then, yet die or break sooner too. And while they can be more durable, the texture generally wears away before they're done.

Yea i think they provide better access to spin (at least in my head if nothing else). But like ^^^ said, the texture wears away eventually. I jus broke my ALU POwer Spin 16/K-gut 16 hybrid ,after checking the lux i noticed its texture was pretty much worn down in my hitting zone.

Textured strings will provide a difference for some people. People who know how to hit the ball will see a difference in the spin. Lux's ALU Rough surface does help for some people on this board with spin. Same goes for those hex strings out there. It is all a matter of tecnique.

While spin production is a matter of technique, I think textured strings give added bite to the ball and thus dwells on your stringbed longer than a non-textured string.

I think the reason textures strings feel like they increase spin, is because they somewhat force you to hit topspin. Switching between Blue Gear and Big Ace, I noticed the difference most not with spin, but when hitting flat. The added bite and dwell time lead to me hitting a bunch into the net cord and I really had to concentrate on getting good light and net clearance to feel the full benefits of Blue Gear. With BA, it feels like the ball came off the strings quicker since it doesn't have the same bite or dwell time. So in short, I think texture strings just increase the feel of a topspin stroke, but not necessarily increase the spin.

With my very limited experience with BG so far, but I can say it definately seems to have more spin than full cyberpower atleast for ME; but I have only hit twice with it.:-? However, unlike Doc, I find that my flatter ball is better with BG due to the increase in bite/spin which causes my balls to stay in when otherwise they would be long. My slice backhand has some really serious bite and my topspin forehand seems to hit and zip up causing a much more difficult ball for my opponent to handle.

I experienced this as well, but like I mentioned I had to adjust my strokes for more net clearance as compared to Big Ace. This only became an issue when playing doubles and serve and volleyers and I'm trying to keep the ball as low as possible. I also found that shots would land short at times, due to the increased bite and dwell time as well, and be somewhat unpredictable at times.

I've found I didn't like the msv hex because I got no feel at all, and I didn't notice any more spin than the Cyber flash, but it looks cool.

i just thing the texture makes the string feel crisper, which makes it feel like your getting more spin, but not really. thinner gauges give you slightly more spin, but more playability
